I'm using S2Member Pro.
I spent a lot of time setting this up the way I want it, and it still has a few bugs. It helps, if you know some coding, like basic PHP and HTML. This Plugin is not for the average user, but if you know what you want, you can set up killer dynamic pages !! it's the most powerful Membership site on the market today. I've tried them all. If you just want a cookie cutter member site, that you can set up quickly, you can use this software, but then you are not using everything that's available to you.
I recommend black listing all IP's except your own in wp-admin folder. I've noticed a lot of brute force attacks on my site as soon as I installed this software. It's best if you are running SSL.
Great plugin if looking for a membership plugin where you don't want to have an ecommerce plugin.
Took a bit to get the hang of, but very happy with it now.
I am evaluating a number of membership plugins and options.
Membership plugins like this one are complex, they take time to learn, and sometimes some issues will come up.
Although S2Member is complex, and takes time to learn, volunteers are willing to help, even when users like me get frustrated :)
I used in an advisory site and work it very well.
I would like to see more ways of payment, it would be perfect!
I have used this plugin for 4 sites so far it is great for managing the access to the resources on the site. In two cases I used it a little bit more extensively and run into some troubles.
On West India Committee I used monetization options, selective content display depending on the access level etc. The main problem there were warnings resulting from the plugin using depreciated features. I couldn't turn them off because of the server configuration. I ended up tracking the origin of each warning and silencing them with "@". ^_^'
The second problem happened with Unilink where the client requested shortcodes for secure downloads. s2Member didn't offer the functionality at the time so I had to improvise and write an extension to the s2File shortcode called s2Link.
In short great plugin with a few glitches and gaps in functionality. If those are fixed I would consider it perfect.

Thanks for the great plugin!
This is an awesome plugin, very very powerful. I run my two membershit sites with it, and I also use it for a couple products I sell (to deliver the protected content - no membership or registration needed).
Basic setup is fairly easy and plug-and-play. Customizations and features for advanced users are there too, with almost unlimited possibilities (for the PRO version).
The only drawback I've found is there's too little people out there to actually develop your custom solutions, like integrations with other payment gateways for instance or creative integration with wordpress and other plugins.
The guys at support are great, very quick to respond and always there to help. Overall a GREAT plugin, way worth the investment (PRO version).
Plugin works really nice. And, supporting dev are really responsive. Kudos for the great work guys!
This is great plugin which i personally use for my site. Quite easy to set up, yet very powerful, quite flexible.
However, the UI isn't really that intuitive, we need to scroll a lot to take a look at what this plugin has. Wishlist has easy checkbox to change the settings, while this plugin doesn't.
I would really love to has the option to make each level as a stand alone level.
Which means that level 2 isn't higher than level 1. It just different level. That way i can sell multiple products or multiple membership for different product easily.
Well, it's free... can't complain, but definitely has room for improvement.
Basic s2Member is a powerful plugin with that will work with most sites. For my current client's site, we decided to go with s2Member Pro for some additional features such as Pro Forms.
I would love to see a couple additional features, such as the ability to set specific EOT dates for different membership types. The support is generally very helpful, and developers continually work to make this plugin better.
