From simple redirects to merging multiple websites into one, this plugin can handle it.
One of my favorite features is that it tallies how many times redirects are used.
Does exactly what it says. Works great! I didn't realize that I had so many 404s - now they are redirected. Also, I was amazed at how many trolling 404s were being produced by hackers apparently attempting to gain entry to my site: now I have a better idea how to block that behavior via WordFence firewall. Thanks!
There are many help threads that go unanswered. Many of which would not exist if the developer made proper documentation on how to export settings or re-install this plugin.
I use this for complex as well as simple redirections. The RegEx feature is handy for formulating redirects that work on the live site & local test version, even in differently named directories. I also like that it can automatically add a 301 redirection when a post's URL changes.
I needed to direct my homepage to another page, and this plug-in did just that.
Keep in mind that if you make certain changes to Redirection's settings (like remove a rule), you'll need to clear your browser's cache in order to see those changes.
I got hacked through a robot going throught this plugin and amending my data base and my htaccess file, I have just deleted it. I was quite happy with the way it works, but is not gold everything that shines.
Talk about a headache!! It didn't work. I tried and tried and did all kinds of variation on the url redirect, referral. Name it. It just doesn't work. Then I went back to the Plugin listing for Redirection and noticed that it isn't tested for WordPress 4.5.
This is just a beautiful plugin. It gave me more than I wanted.
The plugin is fantastic and does exactly what I needed! Allows me to redirect old pages from our previous website to their new locations, or the homepage of our new site. No more 404s!
The downside is it only works for "known" 404 addresses. If it allowed me to set the 404 page to an existing page on my site, it would be perfect. Right now, I'm having to use another plugin to accomplish this (404 to 301). If this feature was added, I would no longer need the other plugin.
