Adds userfriendly multilingual content management and translation support into WordPress.
I have used this plugin on a site for nearly two years. It does the job very good when it works. However it deactivates itself each time a new versin ov WordPress is installed, and I have to wait until a new version of the plugin is released. This causes a management problem, and the foreign languages are not available until the plugin is updated.
Lack of compatibility with recent versions of WordPress
Since the new version was rolled out, the plugin deactivates itself and the message says:
"The qTranslate Editor has disabled itself because it hasn't been tested with your WordPress version yet. This is done to prevent WordPress from malfunctioning. You can reenable it by clicking here (may cause data loss! Use at own risk!). To remove this message permanently, please update qTranslate to the corresponding version."
The message appears twice and when it activates it the languages appear twice French French English English (in my case) and the languages are all mixed up.
It is impossible to make updates. Congratulations for qtranslate which is a good plugin but completely destructive nowadays. Is there a plugin which can be recommended to an error-free one ? ...or a way to fix this ?
I'm waiting for 1-2 months for an update...I regret using this plugin for my clients
Everytime a new WP version comes out, be prepared for a fight with qTranslate. This plugin always comes up to date weeks if not months later after a new WP release. Clearly not a production tool.
A "Show default language if no translation available" in the language management menu would be VERY useful.. but thank you anyway for this great plugin.
Unfortunately, this is a plugin with potential, but when your wordpress is updated, you can not correct or update your texts until the release of the latest version of qtranslate. If you use it, do not let your wordpress will automatically update and wait for the new version of qtranslate before updating your system. I have been using this plugin, but finally I have decided to replace it with an other one good with any wordpress version.
Really good plugin, simple to use.
Really bad support/updates. Forum has thousand of spam posts (no admins?), last qtranslate release 2 months ago, no way to code-contribute (git?) to the development.
While I understand that making a free plugin can't be the only thing the author is thinking about, locking the plugin to every minor WordPress version is a huge mistake. I used this plugin on one site, and that site is now permanently weeks or months behind every WordPress release unless I manually update this define() call.
Beside that point, the plugin is passible, and I'm sure would work well for some users. However, that point is a big enough one to make me switch to using WPML for all multilingual WP builds.
Switching between language tabs and visual/text makes my Custome Fields data to be mixed up with the Content. Or disapear. It seemed to work great if I didn´t do to much editing in post/page.
Searched for workarounds in the Forum for qTranslate but there where to many quick hacks. Dont have time to edit the plugin when a new WP-versin comes along.
