I was using the free version of posts types order and upgraded to the advanced version for more flexibility.
While I do like some of the UI and the use of images and the JS drag and drop, and for a very basic site this could work okay, the plugin itself produced more bugs in my code and more headaches I needed to work around for simple usability.
The next_post_link function stopped working, as I had set values to maintain the next posts only with the same category. What this plugin in does is rewrite how all that is handled through menu_order. In some cases thats totally okay, but when I have many categories and handling… this simply caused more headaches than its worth. Others have had the same issue and presented filters to fix it, but for a paid plugin... that shouldn't be the case.
Not to mention its extremely difficult to add filtering for certain categories. If I change a category order, it is not represented in the whole archive order. I worked with Dan on this and he presented a broad stroke solution that simply isn't sufficient.
The site im working on handles loads and loads of posts and categories and this just causes more headaches than its worth.
the free plugin is fine actually and works much better out of the box than the paid one, if you can live with the basic functions it provides. I've switched over to this, which works for my build: https://wordpress.org/plugins/simple-page-ordering
installed free version on a my Multisite instance of WordPress and it worked for my custom post type out of the box! Will buy the advanced version of the plugin cause I need to also filter by custom taxonomies and categories.
Keep up the good work!
I just installed and used this plugin. It works as shown in the video and my posts were organized with just performing drag and drop. Excellent job.
I searched high and low for a way to reorder the items for my custom posts. I wanted to avoid the time and frustration of trying to code it in myself. Lo and behold, I found this wonderful plugin. Incredibly easy and fast. You just install it, and presto, you have an option in the admin section that simply allows you to drag items into the desired order. All I needed. And since this is not a normal feature of the wp-admin area, I would highly recommend that anyone who creates there own post types should go right ahead and download this as well.
This plugin is easy to use and does what it says it will.
Very good job! easy and perfect
I think i'll buy even the pro version
Finally, after using several different post ordering plugins, this one works straight out of the box. Works how you expect it to, and there's no faffing with code.
I was looking for something like this, great plugin !
This plugin is GREAT! It works beautifully with Posts, Pages and custom post types, including WooCommerce products. I am going to use this one a lot!
Works exactly as it states and is a piece of cake to use.
