Great, with a few minor issues

Overall Rating? 4.5 stars

Customer Service? 5 stars. If I could give more, I would. I have had issues with other plug ins in the past on other websites, have always posted on their help forums and it sometimes takes days to get a reply if any. With NextGen, I got a reply in less than a half hour (what?!?), and it didn't stop there. We went back and forth trying to figure out my issue, ending with sending a bug report. I received an email the next morning with even more help. So, definitely the best customer service I have ever received.

Actual Plug In? 4 stars. This is the best plug in I have worked with for galleries. I have made a few websites and also I run a few websites and have used it since I discovered NextGen. However, there are some issues that need to be worked out. If they are fixed by the next update, I will DEFINITELY be changing my rating to 5 stars. Mainly my original issue can hopefully be fixed. Still, I recommend the plug in. I really do. I look forward to the next update.

Works Great. Easy & Intuitive

Nice plugin. Easy to use and a very clean interface. The only thing I wish it had is social sharing buttons. If that's not a big deal to you. then I highly recommend this gallery plugin :-)

Good - it works
By , for WP 3.9.2

Not had any problems on more than one site using different themes.

Good but not without problems
By , for WP 3.9.1

this is a great gallery plugin and worth a try. However it does seem to have run into a few different conflicts depending on the set up of your website. Most of these conflicts are easily solved and it's just a minor annoyance more than anything.

My advice would be give it a try and see how you get on with it. Still the best gallery plugin I have come across.

Good but not perfect!
By , for WP 3.9.1

I have had lots of problems with permissions and roles. It simply disappeared. But I saw a very useful tutorial how to fix it: https://www.role-editor.com/nextgen-gallery-restore-lost-capabilities/
There is no possibility to use this plugin for frontend users. NextGen Uploader does not work for WP 3.9. If you need this, you better choose Nextcellent Gallery.

BUT: In general this gallery is indeed the best one for WP. I would give 5-star rating if the above mentioned problems would be solved.

huge memory hog *Review updated!
By , for WP 3.9.1

since the big 2.0 upgrade it has been a massive memory hog. Looking for alternatives, sadly NextGen Gallery is just not a good plugin anymore.

*Updated June 2015: Props to the developers for their continued work and support on this plugin! The 2.0 upgrade was tough, but performance issues seem to be ironed out now. Thanks for all your work on NGG!

Confusing. I prefer the old style.

Confusing as hell to edit to how I needed it to run on my site. If all else fails I have my backups.

Works, but has some bugs
By , for WP 3.9.1

Thank you for the good plugin.

The import of a whole directory was very valuable for me while importing content from an old site. However if the directory contains more than 60-70 images, the imports can't handle them all and freezes. Then I must go to the gallery's edit page and use the "Scan folder for new images" button to import the rest of them. Also when I use the Import directory button multiple times, after 20-25 imported galleries I receive a server error, which says that the cookies request is too long and I can't open any page anymore, until I delete the cookies for this site.

Another issue is that I have a JS error on a post page, which doesn't contain a gallery:
TypeError: b.fancybox.init is not a function
Line 46

Please let me know how can the last issue be solved, because I wouldn't like to have JS errors on my site. I use the Hueman theme.

Edit: The theme recommends the "Light - Responsive LightBox" plugin (http://captaintheme.com/plugins/light/) and when I deactivate it, the JS error disappears. Is it it possible to use both plugins without such conflicts?

Thanks you in advance.
