Only missing features for me are ability to restrict content based on capability instead of roles, and ability to export settings or somehow replicate across network sites.
Congratulations, very well done.
You have a rare care with the interface. =)
I've been using this plugin for years, and it's always done the job nicely. The latest update has really taken it to the next level though. Really great work Justin!
Allows tweaking of standard permissions (such as allowing a contrib to upload images and edit their published posts).
Can be used in conjunction with Gravity Forms too.
I used a different paid plugin to manage site roles that failed to provide the results I wanted. This plugin was recommended by Gravity Forms to control role access to their PI. It took me about an hour to install and set up, and gave me about 90 - 95% of what I tried to achieve with the paid plugin.
Refer to 'Roles and Capabilities' in the WP codex to learn how they're structured in WP. The Codex documentation lists the functions assigned to each role in a handy table. This plugin follows that documentation exactly, and provides administrator's with the means to grant or deny access to each function listed in the Codex.
The user interface is easy and intuitive to follow. Props to Justin for the improvements.
A note to users of the Genesis framework. If you grant users permission to 'manage_options', the Genesis parent theme and child theme will appear in the WP Admin menu. Haven't figured out yet how to block access to the parent theme settings. That will come later with further research.
The plugin also does not currently provide granular control over which widgets are accessible to users at the Editor level and below. If users are granted permission to 'manage_options', then all widgets will be accessible on the site.
I highly recommend this plugin to anyone who needs to set up and manage user roles on their site.
Justin has the reputation of being a really good developer and Members delivers.
Im using it for restricting access to a few pages on my site and Members does it really well, with a simple yet efective interface. Recommended.
Thanks a lot. Very powerful and easy to use.
Justin does a great job with all his stuff from Plugins to Themes,
one of my favorite WP Dev's !
I've been using Members on nearly every site I've built over the past 5 years or so, especially if there are multiple users on a site. Members does what it's supposed to do, without any problems.
Now this update comes out - much improved UI, option to assign multiple roles per user, option to group capabilities by posts/pages/media/plugins/etc, and other improvements.
