MapPress is the most popular and easiest way to create great-looking Google Maps and driving directions in your blog.
The free version of this plugin works well and is pretty intuitive to use…….it adds a module on the Post (and/or Page) edit screen (depending on how you have the plugin configured) for adding maps to any Post or Page…….just give the map a name, enter in your POIs (points of interest) or a latitude/longitude and it will display the map in accordance with the plugin's other General Settings. If you want more, that's what the Pro version is for.
I would like to see the developer add the option to have a "default" treatment for instances when a map cannot be displayed, something like a default image or editable text message ("map coming soon!") - we have the shortcode built into our template and occasionally (for a variety of reasons) can't display a map but to keep the layout looking right that area is styled in a specific way - so we have a big blank space where the map would ordinarily go. I'd like to be able to put something else there when a map isn't present. I can do this with some tricky coding, but many WP users would probably like just a tickbox with the option of entering a URL to a default image or some text message to display instead.
All in all a great plugin and very sophisticated for a freebie…kudos to the developer!
Works great and as advertised. Exactly what I needed to put a map on a page. Easy to use.
Small layout issue, its doesn't expand when the direction list expands.
Lots or great features that build on an already useful plugin. Thanks.
Probably the best google map plugin, at least for me. Would appreciate if I could add a route - a line connecting two POIs.
I have a website that lists members of an association. They wanted their members to be findable via a map. After trying several other plugins, I found that MapPress Pro did the job.
The free version's good, but I needed more functionality, such as automatically creating maps for 200 postcodes held in a custom field in a specific custom post type. For that you need Pro.
The documentation's pretty good. I did have a few minor stumbles while setting up the map, but within an hour I had fully functioning maps.
I'd like to see an option to regenerate all maps from scratch. At the moment you have to manually edit a post to re-map it, which is time consuming if you have hundreds of posts.
muy buen plugin ;)
