The MailChimp plugin allows you to quickly and easily add a signup form for your MailChimp list.
* Should be faster by minifying the CSS and JS.
* Default styling should be nicer
* Input type for email should be "email" and not "text"
* Email input should have required tag
I finally was able to setup the Widget portion of the plugin. It works well and looks good. However, If you'd like to use the form in your post or page, it looks horrible and does not pick up the styling for the widget. There's no way to setup two different styles for two different locations of the form.
This plugin does not do anything more than a simply embed code and in fact is more limited than the embed code generator. There are no options to some basic settings (like what fields to display). The "naked" version of the sign up form is not available. Basically, this plugin will insert a widget that ALWAYS includes first and last name, and email, and submit button. Not ideal for anything other than sidebars. I tried to use this in a header but it is HUGE. Way too big for a simple sign up.
This plugin works but it's not very pretty and the styling options are limited. I'm pretty au fait with HTML and basic php but you need a degree in science to decode the guts of this plugin if you want to make significant changes. I only managed it by using the Inspect Element tool on Chrome and then searching all 43 files of the plugin to find the relevant tags. And even that wasn't as straightforward as it sounds.
I was doubly frustrated with the widget that doesn't have ANY options at all, making it almost impossible to style into your sidebar.
Still, it works, and Mailchimp appears to stay on top of issues rained in the support forum.
Grateful for the app, but would love some additional options to customize so that it matches the look and feel of my site. You can change the colors of text, bkgrnd, etc., but it still looks pretty generic.
