Creates a shortcode to display the date/time when a post/page was last updated (with optional formatting).
Nice little shortcode plugin. Simple functionality and works great. I'm using Customizr Theme along with another shortcode plugin, and no conflicts.
I remember sometime last year or the year before, I searched high and low for a plugin that does what this one does. I honestly don't know why the feature isn't integrated into WordPress already but either way, I'm so glad someone took the time to make this plugin because it's just what I needed.
I'm running this plugin on this site right now, which is always up to date on the most recent WordPress installation (currently on WordPress 4.0) and there are no problems. So I wouldn't worry about compatibility. It's worked for me through countless updates so far!
There are a lot of posts online about how to get rid of the errors:
Warning: Missing required field “updated”
Warning: Missing required hCard “author”
But when you're using Genesis Framework then you already know that editing single.php is futile.
Simply install the plugin, go to a page/post > Edit page/post and at the bottom of the post (or anywhere else if you prefer) add the shortcode
<span class="updated">[lastupdated]</span>. Then check this page/post on the Structured Data Testing Tool and you will see the above errors are no more.
Thank you Luke!!!
For those who want to replace their post creation date with the "last updated" date, it works perfectly. Thank you!
