Use Jetpack and lose everything.
When a user of your blog enters their e-mail address to make a comment, some features of this plugin share that e-mail address with wordpress.com which is owned by automattic.
See the 2014 Handbook on European data protection law.
An e-mail address is considered to be Personal Data by the definition there.
Automattic is considered to be a third party by the definition there.
Under EU law, you are required to get specific consent from a user before you may share personal data with a third party. The jetpack plugin however just shares it without seeking any kind of consent from the user.
Before using this plugin, I highly recommend that you consult with a lawyer in your country to see if this plugin violates data privacy laws that exist in your country, specifically laws regarding sharing an e-mail address with a third party without consent.
Up to recently I used jetpack for visitors of two sites to subscribe (to different lists). For one blog they still remain, the other blog suddenly had no subscribers at. BIG BUMMER!
Deleted it straight away. What's the use of a subscription tool if I can't trust it do keep the subscribers?
This update broke the vertical alignment of Tiled Galleries. They are now unusable.
I'm on Catchbox theme for both my blog and website. I have jetpack on both and love the functionality and tools. I think Jetpack is the coolest plug in out there and gave it a 5 star rating when I first got it.
However, when I try to update to 3.2, it just hangs forever. When it hangs, my sites just give a Maintenance message and not only can I not get into admin to stop that, no one can see my websites. I had to go into the CPanel to fix this. I left 3.1.1 on the site, but now my plugin page keeps bugging me to update ...
I'm on a MacAir, Firefox v. 33.0.2, Yosemite
I also tried this on my iPad3 with Safari, and tried it on my old laptop MacBook Pro with Firefox 33.0.2 and Snow Leopard... Sot it's not the browsers or the OS.
Download doesn't work, would like the link to work other wise I would give a better review.
Installed and broked all my administrator. It Went completly Blank
Jetpack is really buggy!
Despite creating an WordPress account, it messed up all other plugins.
It's the most buggy plug-in for WordPress I have ever seen! :-(
Unreliable. Comments (facebook/twitter) don't work more often than not. Very disappointing, can't justify wasting more time on it. Why can't I choose which logins to use or disable? them since they don't work in Chrome or IE.
i don't understand what the people at wordpress.com want to achieve with this plugin, it literally slows everything down, probably because it is such a big plugin, but also the need to connect to wordpress.com and mirror to wordpress.com content and have wordpress.com stuff running on the background and on the site when its not needed is quite a hog in every sense of the word, uninstall it from 6 of my sites and going to keep well away from it!
