Block visitors from countries you don't want on your website. Based on which country your visitor is from.
Need an update, does not work.
The concept is good.
But I prefer not to block at frontend.
We were getting huge amounts of spam traffic from dubious referral sites that seemed to be Russian. The Spam grew to be 250% of usual traffic. Thanks to IQ block that has been cut right down.
I installed on two sites and works very well.
Able to block spam from Ukraine and Russia where the hacking attempts were being made.
After install, it said this, so not user friendly:
The MaxMind GeoIP database does not exist. Please download this file manually or if you wish to use the GeoIP API get an API key from: http://geoip.webence.nl/
Please download the database from: http://geolite.maxmind.com/download/geoip/database/GeoLiteCountry/GeoIP.dat.gz unzip the file and afterwards upload it to the following location: /home/content/24/9036524/html/wp-content/uploads/GeoIP.dat
If you also use IPv6 please also download the database from: http://geolite.maxmind.com/download/geoip/database/GeoIPv6.dat.gz unzip the file and afterwards upload it to the following location: /home/content/24/9036524/html/wp-content/uploads/GeoIPv6.dat
For more detailed instructions take a look at the documentation..
So then I went to the instructions, tried them, then got this after uploading:
“GeoIPv6.dat” has failed to upload due to an error
Sorry, this file type is not permitted for security reasons.
On top of that, when I did get this working, it only allows you to "block countries" rather than "allow countries" i.e. just allow the U.S. and block all others. There are over 200 countries... I don't wanna have to add 200 countries!
Just WOW. I followed the instructions on how to install and it works as a charm. You can tested by trying to access your website using different proxy servers from china, germany and so on.
This is the link dummmy:
Find a proxy server from the country you are having issues and test it. You will see that i will block the entrance. Same you can do with the allowed countries.
Also, if you don't upload the Database, you does the plugin supposed to know the IPs of the visitors.
If you are having issues with this plugin, I think you should not post bad things about it but rather read the instructions on how to use it.
1st of all, It is freaking free
2nd I don't think you have technical knowledge so please restrain yourself from leaving such stupid message.
3rd the plugin does what it advertise. I have no idea why you are crying for?
Only ungrateful people cry like you.
I'm an IT engineer and I certified this plugin work 100% and it gives you for free what word fender wants to charge you premium for.
Dont listen to dumbass on and install this amazing piece of engineer pronto. It will keep the unwanted countries nicely blocked.
I just activate this plugin and my website failed. Now I need to search in the FTP for the reasons!!!
Why are you doing that to me???
I had some trouble with chinese hackers and I was short before to type every Chinese IP-Subnet to my firewall. But this is much easier, may be not so secure like already block with the firewall, but it safes a lot of time.
Go one! May publish an Guide how der User can add a file witch bring back the autouploader feature without getting removed from the Plugin Archive.
The plugin is blocking Google. Although I have search engines all on white list, I faced by testing my site with GG rich data tool and answer for all sites I was testing of my page "URL is not valid" that the plugin is is really blocking Google IP's 220.127.116.11;18.104.22.168;22.214.171.124;
which are all in blaclist on wpd_iqblock_logging.
Better you don't block the country US, if you don't want to be punished from search engines ;-)
We are in 2 countries, U.S. and Spain. Randomly we and site visitors from these countries will be blocked, but then the site will be accessible a minute later. Can't have this.
Also, you have to add all other countries manually to the list - there is not a "check all" and them remove what you want in the list.
Too many random blocks to rely on.
