As I became a web developer, I avoided WordPress because it didn't feel like web development. It felt like "theme modification." Take other people's work and try to make it look and function how you want it to. And that doesn't get me excited. I'm passionate about fully customized web design and development. But I've learned about the power of WordPress and now I've fully committed to it because I see that I can build any custom website I want with my own "themes" even more easily than building website without it before. I don't use other people's themes. And although it's still hard to write HTML outside of my comfort zone, Sublime Text, this plugin allows me to feel a little more like I'm in my development environment. It allows me to customize the syntax coloring with CSS—which I've done to match my Sublime Text color scheme—also to use multiple cursors, and hit [Cmd + S] to save my work. I hope this plugin continues to thrive!
Buggy with latest WordPress.
Just what I was looking for a code like notepad ++ Editor. It would be even better if the opening and closing tags were highlighted together when one clicks on one of them (like notepad ° °).
But congratulations, very nice work.
It amazes me that this functionality is not built into the WordPress core. A must have for any developer.
Makes editing posts so much easier!
The editor in WordPress is so painful to use sometimes, the restriction of not being able to go from the text to visual editor and back again for fear of it ruining my code has really started to irk me. I'm now determined to make coding and building content a more pleasurable experience. This plugin it seems is going to help me to achieve that.
I tried another plugin with similar capabilities, but it disabled my quicktag text editor buttons plugin, so then I tried this one, HTML Editor Syntax Highlighter. It works.... and when it doesn't, it gets fixed quickly. Thank you!
Minor criticisms: it doesn't highlight shortcode, but it's pretty great otherwise....
Easy, simple, effective. I Just like it !
I really love this plugin that closes an essential WP gap - highlighting code during the post- and site text editing. Actually this functionality should be a part of WP itself IMHO.
So why not 5 stars? To be perfect it should also highlight shortcodes. Without shortcodes it feels like a part of code is left out.
Really -- Have been using crayon for years but didn't realize there was an editor with markup... Love the fullscreen mode!
