exactly as it should
After reading the 1 star reviews i decided to install this plugin on a text database firs. Big mistake. Immediately after activating the plugin i got a 404 error and was not able to access the site.
If you do proceed you can fix this quite easily.
The plugin creates a file called 'GZipNinjaSpeed_install_backup1467737212.htaccess' in the root WordPress folder. All you need to do is delete the current '.htaccess' file from the root folder and then rename the 'GZipNinjaSpeed_install_backup1467737212.htaccess' to 'htaccess'
This restored the access to my site.
Developers of the plugin you need to sort this our or make people aware there is a risk of messing thing up and give them instructions on how to resolve it.
The only Gzip Plugin that does the job
The plugin drastically improved my site's loading speed, thanks to the developer for making this plugin free to use.
After installing it I also got 500 Internal server error in all of my pages, to solve this make sure the code of Gzip Ninja Speed is on a new line in the .htacces file.. It seems to just paste it behind the last line of code which is (in my case) caused the 500 error.
I was feeling bad about not being able to improve my site speed at all, visited a blog that recommended you and now WOW.
In about 30 seconds -finding, installing and running it-, my site has jumped from around 60/100 on Google Insights to more than 80/100.
I can't be more grateful and your tip is on the way !!!

Installing immediately caused a 500 error on my web site, making the dashboard completely unreachable and reverting the web site pages to either unstyled/unthemed text with no images or 500 errors. Had to edit my .htaccess file via FTP to fix; editing out the references to Ninja did it. Thanks to the helpful user BSM2015 who posted that solution.
Its working for me and reduce my page size from 2MB to 1MB and my Page SpeedTime from 3sec to 1.5sec.
Do not install it will cause a 500 error.
Take out any ref to ninja from the .htaccess file then upload the file again with your ftp.
It brought my website from 0 to 60 points in PageSpeed. Thanks! Great!
Tell me, what can this plugin do that is different from enabling Gzip via the .htaccess file as detailed in this article? https://www.feedthebot.com/pagespeed/enable-compression.html
