This is a simple to use plugin for displaying PUBLIC Google calendars. It works well for that. If you need to display a private calendar, that's a different issue. While the paid Pro version will display private calendars, the event capabilities are non-existent. You can't allow people to view or receive notifications for private events. Definitely something to be aware of before you purchase.
Really appreciate the work on this. Shows google calendar in much attractive way. Thanks to the creator.
My review title pretty much says it all. I did find the tutorial at WPBeginner.com to be very helpful in setting up the plugin. Only reason I did not give the plugin 5-stars is because there's no way to show the event time on the displayed calendar. You have to hover over or click the event title to see the time. It's the first calendar I've seen that doesn't include the time. From a usability perspective, the fewer clicks/actions a person has to take to find the information they're looking for - the better.
I am a longtime user of this plugin, prior to the transition to the new version. Overall, I am pleased with the plugin; I think the new version made some nice changes. I do agree that the transition was challenging, and I waiting to update the plugin for a while until the kinks were worked out. Despite this, it is a great plugin overall, and I very much appreciate the excellent technical support.
I do find it is useful to wait a bit before updating to any new version of this plugin - more often than I would like, an update causes problems that need to be fixed. They always eventually are fixed - but a cautious timeline in updating is beneficial.
Would love to see the ability to give the viewer a choice of grid or list view. (Right now, the admin configures a default view, but the user / viewer cannot switch.)
Also, some controls of the text size for the pop-up would be appreciated.
Other than these suggestions, the Simple Calendar plugin works well and does what it should do.
Although they have changed the original plugin it's still a great plugin.
However, i wouldn't have changed anything but i could have created another plugin instead
Does what it says it does. Needs some TLC on timezone issues, but otherwise is easy to use and configurable enough for most uses. Complex events and recurring schedules are difficult for any calendar app--this plugin handles the vast majority of events quite well.
Support forum is monitored and responded to timely.
Have only need using for a few weeks (starting with v3.0.8), so have not really experienced instability on updates.
I have a hard time complaining about something that is free. I've been checking back since the initial change to the new version. Everything I would have submitted had already been addressed. The only reason I do not have this visible on my site is that for the current day there are 4 empty events. Event Event Event Event. They all say they start at 12:00 AM and run through 11:59 PM.
The first day I thought it was a problem with my calendar but there are no events. If I uncomment the calendar code tomorrow will have 4 empty events.
I was able to get rid of the empty events by showing all recurring events instead of limiting it to the first occurrence.
There were problems after the big update of the plugin, but now after great support everything works fine on my website.
