Parses Google Calendar feeds and displays the events as a calendar grid or list on a page, post or widget.
I'm new to WP, but this plug-in was pretty straight forward. Tech support was AWESOME! I'm up in running.
Wish we could have some colors other than black and grey, but then again that could be something I'm doing wrong.
I was looking for a simple calendar plug-in and this fit the bill quite nicely!
Gcal Events is the best Google Calendar plugin out there right now. I have played with several other Google Calendar plugins, but this one fits my needs perfectly. It allows me to feed from multiple calendars, lets me choose how many days I can jump forward, organize as a list or grid, and has nice tooltips. It uses API vs embedding which makes it more robust, and fits my wordpress theme nicely.
Overall this plugin is doing what I need it to do. However, it has required a lot of trial and error and tweaking things… and then even when I think I have it right, I have to go back and tweak some more. But it's definitely the best alternative I could find and I will make it work!
I couldn't ask for anything more in a final result on our site. Very easy to use. Were able to have a master calendar view for the whole ministry with other list view calendars in widgets to match specific areas of interest like youth, adult and children's calendars. Only missing one star to encourage continued work on some of the interface and clarity using short codes or pluggin settings.
Nice work! Would like to see the event heading shown right in the grid, rather than having to hover / click on the date to see details.
This plugin has worked great up until tonight when I installed the 2.0.3 upgrade and lost functionality- there doesn't appear to be a way to limit events on the widget anymore. I had to downgrade to 0.7.3.1 to fix this.
The latest versions fixed problems with specifying events starting within some range such as today and showing upcoming events. I think the plugin is very useful but the documentation could be improved regarding how to set up a feed. I would also like to be able to set up a feed to show just a specific month of events such as all those in March. My website lists the next three months of events by month. If there was an easy way to generate these three lists that would be helpful. http://www.troop1sb.com/calendar
Something of a learning curve with this, but worth the effort!
