I've only played with it a little bit so far but it looks exactly like what I was looking for.
I'm honestly surprised WP does not have that functionality built-in.
I would give it more stars but for this little glitch:
This brings up the WP 2.5-style Gallery Editor, which is actually what I like BETTER than the NEW WP 3.5 era Gallery (where your shortcode MUST contain a list of image IDs). The old style Gallery Editor lets you assign numbers to each of the image attached to a Post or Page. The only hitch is that the old style Gallery Editor is slightly broken; the numbers in that box are not really visible (though you can still drag the thumbnails around to change the order). This is no fault of the Gallery Metabox Plugin, but maybe someone could just go ahead and add a way to drag around the order of thumbnails within the Gallery Metabox itself without a trip to the old style Gallery Editor.
Great plugin, very useful, this is exactly what i need, thx a lot...
very handy, think I'll install this on more of my sites, only
4 stars because works with 3.5 but can be updated to use the new image uploading and manage screen.
This plugin is fantastic. Already made hundreds of people extremely happy by recommending this plugin. The visual gallery in the post editor is such a great feature to have and makes things a lot easier for not-so-advanced WordPress users.
