Glad to have found a plugin that's gone a step beyond Regenerate Thumbnails by removing the old, unused sizes when regenerating thumbnails.
Be careful removing sizes that are still used on the site. You can do a search for the image size, and in my case, there were only a small amount of posts that needed updating (otherwise best to leave the old size). E.g. if the image size is 360x200, for hard-crop you can search posts for "-360x200." (no quotes), and for soft-crop you can search for both "-360x" and "x200." (no quotes).
Also regenerates custom images, can't find any better. Saved me a lot of time.
I using it under a WP network.
My theme is GeneratePress, whit a custom child.
The plugin works fine, though when you want to regenerate a single image from media gallery, in order to have visible the "Force Regenerate Thumbnail" link you have to be in list view, if you are in grid view you won't be able to use it!
Another glitch, when in grid view (WP network and same theme as above), the filter box overlays the first row of thumbnails. All is useable, but for a neat freak like i am, this is unbearable.... ahahah, no i'm just joking, i can deal with it!
5 stars are for you!
Cool and Awesome just what's in the title!
Over the last week I have had to try many regenerations of images. At first I was using both this plugin and the original 'regenerate images' plugin because I was having image size problems and needed to eliminate potential causes. Eventually I had enough data to show me both plugins worked the same and that this plugin was better because it eliminated previous trial sizes AND it display exactly what it had deleted and created. This list was extremely useful, giving ID's and image URL's.
My image size problems are totally unrelated to either plugin, they are woocommerce and theme related
I have since discovered this plugin is a branch of the original Viper Bond plugin 'Regenerate thumbnails' and that the original plugin is no longer supported.
Thumbs up to Author Pedro Elsner for taking over this plugin, improving and maintaining it.
Not only great for regenerating thumbnail sizes, additionally fantastic for cleaning up (deleting) undesired thumbnail sizes.
A decent array of information is presented during and after the regeneration process. E.g. Failed regenerations and the corresponding reason (E.g. Not an image.), a progress bar and a list of various dimensions the thumbnails have been produced at. The latter is useful in identifying if your theme is arbitrating an excessive quantity of image dimensions.
Considering top-grade premium themes recommend this plugin, it's clearly a winner.
I can't thank enough for this plugin. My life was hell before finding this seriously. We changed theme pretty often with a thousand or more articles live, and this plugin made each transition smooth <3
Works exactly as advertised! Thanks.
