Add Facebook social plugins and the ability to publish new posts to a Facebook Timeline or Facebook Page. Official Facebook plugin.
Spent loads of time researching, looking for help on forums and watching videos with no good result. Plug-in deactivated and uninstalled.
What an awful plugin! Does not work at all with wordpress 3.9.1 and is extremely complicated to setup, even for an advanced user.
Anyone know a good alternative to publish posts on facebook from wordpress?
I cannot believe the ineffectiveness and complexity of this so-called plugin.
I have been trying to get the thing to work for 40 hrs.
I have reassigned my personal profile three times to my page on facebook and it defineitely is admin on my facebook page, so no problem there.
The buttons work of course no problem.
But then you come to the "Social Publisher" section ....................
Now I must say I have also re-installed the plugin 3 times to make sure it's not bugged in some way.
The links are not working on this page "Associate an Open Graph action-object pair for your application: people can publish an article" is stated to be a broken link in the web browser, and as many other people have stated the "associate wordpress to facebook account" is not working either.
There is no clear step by step explanation of what to do in a logical and CLEAR manner. Facebook are just giving you endless reems of gumpf to read and no guide.
Why are they making this so difficult, and why doesn't it work ? Why are the links to documentation broken - surely that is just basic admin that is not getting done !
Maybe facebook could produce a step by step, clearly written guide or tutorial videos for this instead of such a lacklustre. It is truly disappointing from such a huge company.
Check out Steve Stallones video on youtube, truly hilarious.
I simply can not believe that Facebook came up with such a "plugin". To be honest regarding myself not a novice I couldn't even connect the API properly. Definitely I wouldn't need something called plugin for placings "like buttons", but for things like auto publishing. But as I said earlier API configuration is way too complex even for advanced user. Just waste of time
If you are used to 2minutes click-install-configure plugins, this is not the one for you!
As other reviewers have noted, you cannot link your WP Account/Profile with Facebook, which is required for the Social Plugin to work. This would be so nice to have working. Facebook: When will you pay attention to this?
I have been unable to finish installation/setup. Specifically, I am unable to associate my wordpress user with my Facebook account as described here. Also, the installation and configuration documentation is sorely lacking. I'm sorry for the negative review, but I've spent hours and hours (days) trying to get this to work to no avail.
This is not a plugin! This is a test of your own sanity!
Where is the documentation or tutorial or something?
I found a hilarious video by Steven Stallone which tries to talk you through the settings but even his 6 month old video is out of date.
After hours of messing with this I find out Facebook changed the API in such a way that the "Facebook" plugin does NOT work. You have to go through a zillion amount of settings in the Facebook App Settings and even then, their own help screens and instructions are wrong and misleading.
The WordPress Developer Facebook profile for this app has the strap line "Making the world more social and connected." - Bollocks !
Plugins are supposed to be just that, plug it in, activate it, tweak a few settings and off you go. Best go elsewhere if that's what you were planning with this plugin!
Breaks pagination for custom page templates.
Have had it running on other blogs. When it works, it works. When it doesn't, it's like pulling teeth to get any support out of the Facebook developers. The FAQ has a vague maybe of how to fix the problem, with no details. it shouldn't take an advanced Comp Sci degree to get a plugin working.
