This plugin is used when there are words, words expressions or sentences to be explained via tooltips in the posts or pages of your wordpress blog.
Amazing. Just what I was looking for. Nice options too. THanks for this.
I love this plugin. My wish-list for improvements would be to add the instructions for "[no-explanation][/no-explanation] tags" to the settings somewhere, so I don't have to come searching for it here each time I need it.
Très beau travail
Nice plugin ! And the contributor is very efficient when you have a problem.
I have a number of Parish Church websites, and am using it for explanation of specific ecclesiastical terms that not everyone is familiar with. I am looking forward to the development of this plugin to support a little more styling, such as Bold, Italic, and quote marks in the definition.
Numbers of people have advised me that they find the glossary page itself a great resource. Whilst that may be content related, it is the plugin that has made the task of presenting the information easy.
The new version was a big change a a bit of a speed hump, however I am really really very very happy now I have understood what it makes possible, I can now add small images to the definition and they display nicely on the glossary page and in the mouse over tool tips. Well Done.
I am working on a very technical website and this was a great time-saving solution!
I just installed it and started and using it; so far I like it very much.
Thank you ;-)
PS: Having a glossary item that is at the same time a link is tricky. I haven't yet found a solution for that.
I really like it.
I was looking for a free plugin to create a simple glossary : this pulgin is perfect and easy to use even for a french girl who is a rookie webmaster...
It' s easy to change the look of the tooltip and even more to create a glossary page, new terms etc.
After trying a half dozen other plug-ins for pop-up text, I finally happened upon Explanatory Dictionary. It's brilliant! Easy to use, yet powerful. You don't have to embed short codes where you want your pop-up boxes; just define your terms or phrases, and the plug-in does the rest.
More importantly, the pop-ups work even within other JS plug-ins like TablePress.
