We started using this plugin 1 week ago and have now optimized all our existing images.
We slices off a 20-50 MB from the uploads in total per sites.
Sometimes as much as 80 MB.
(Note that our sites that we host has a lot of uploads.)
We used the "Meteor Monthly" program (pay-as-you-go) and it worked well.
We saved a lot of server capacity and configuration by using the cloud service instead of installing all the binaries on our own server.
Thumb up, i recommend!
I have tested this plugin for the past month and found it to be working BUT...
When a single image is chosen to be compressed it causes the entire site to stall. This eventually leads to a 522 error while the image is being compressed in the cloud. When several images are selected to be bulk optimized I get: "Temporary failure, seconds left to retry..."
I contacted my hosting provider about the issue and they say that it is due to the long waiting time between the WordPress plugin and the EWWW cloud. I also contacted EWWW support but no solution was found to the problem.
I will continue to use it until my credits have been used and then I will use an alternative image compression tool.
Crap Plugin, All paymment,!
It seems to me that after last update of plugin It doesn't work properly because Google Page Speed shows that images are not optimized. WP 4.4.2, EWWW Image Optimizer Cloud 2.5.8. Site is apple-iphone.ru
My page is faster :-)
Using the Cloud version and extremely happy with the quality of the images produced after Optimizing.
Highly recommended plugin :)
(Might add all images had previously been run through Photoshops 'save for web' with a quality setting of either 50 or 60, and found EWWW still had very worthwhile improvements in file size)
I started using this plugin today and I tested it on a 1.6M image ( http://goo.gl/C9WdNp ). After uploading to my wordpress site it has 1.4M ( http://goo.gl/3P60Ol ). When using Photoshop in the same 1.6M image to save for web with a high quality (60), it has only 378Kb. So I am a little frustrated because I was expecting more. Besides this I can't understand why uploading one image uses 12 credits.
low cost option for good image quality
I used the free version and it was great but it was slowing my site down. Once I used this plugin my site has been the fastest every as measured by Pingdom.
This plugin and the add-on service linking images to alt versions on the cloud is just fantastic. My pages load much quicker and there is no degradation to the visual quality of my images.
