I really wish I could give this free plugin 5 stars, unfortunately, it is so buggy that I will have to give it a 2-star review.
After installing the plugin, my site slowed down by about 2 seconds on each page. This already indicates an unacceptable overload. Next, I click uninstall and deactivate the plugin. This doesn't work. So I try again and it works. Then I try to delete the plugin from WordPress Plugins and the plugin reactivates. Now there are even assigned Events inside Events Manager. I make a request in the WP support forums and is now guided to uninstall the plugin by going to Events -> Settings -> Uninstall and Deactivate.
I try the solution and this works. I can then delete the plugin.
The only reason that I give 2 stars is for the support and for the potential of this plugin. For now, I have found a paid solution that I hope will be more stable. Best of luck in improving this. I really believe it needs a good overhaul.
This is a good plugin once it's set up but you must make sure you have all your recurring events set up absolutely correctly because if you change one of them they disappear from the list. So you go and delete the recurring event but this doesn't delete all instances of that event so you have to do this manually. Tip, don't make several years worth of recurring events otherwise it'll take a while to delete them all. If you don't delete all the instances then they'll reappear when you then recreate the event so you have duplicates. We now have a situation where all the events have been deleted from a recurring series but the duplicates are still appearing on the site. It works really well once it's set up but for heaven sake don't make changes to recurring events, delete them and all instances and start again.
as already written by many others:
documentation, documentation, documentation.
Even the sample plugin which is provided doesn't work (now?).
Since i've done some coding, i understand how things work in WordPress; unfortunately this plugin doesn't.
There are so many inconsistent functions (for example, there is no event link in the Google maps bubbles available...).
The basics working pretty smooth, but you typically don't use plugins in their basic functionality... (because mainly they fit your needs for 99%...).
A (first) settings page from Paris to New York with 500 tabs and 7500 options to set, probably without even knowing what you're setting up in the first place.
Clean this up, make this plugin clean, lean and simple to use.
Right now as soon as you install this plugin your entire back-end feels clumsy and you know you've installed something heavy. I know a plugin like this will probably ask a lot from your hosting with all the features you're gonna add but still. I can't believe this plugin is more heavy than let's say BuddyPress or Jigoshop with all their components and settings while those plugins are just installed without even knowing their activated.
Also got an error when uninstalling something about the 'repeat or reactivate events' setting table couldn't get deleted and of course the headers already sent famous message.
No this plugin is not for me.
I prefer more lightweight plugins that aren't this next iPhone killers because they have 500+ features than the competition. Keep it simple, clean, lean and if users need an extra feature work with plugins or add-ons (Premium or Free) to extend this plugin.
Sorry, this is not what I think WordPress should be about.
You should always develop plugins with
Looks good, but I couldn't get this to work, I identified that it was conflicting with wp-ecommence plugin - which worked fine with other event manager plugins I tried - just not yours!
The main issue was selecting dates, the calendar just wouldn't come up!
made my admin panel and widgets manager completely useless. good plugin but the latest build is terrible.
