Spent about 20 hours trying to get this to work before deciding to go with wp event manager.
The creators of this plugin have also come out with a new version so its doubtful this will receive much more support than the little it did receive.
I have developed more than 100 sites and used more than 100 plugins, this is, by far, the worse plugin ever.
1) Very bad customer service
2) No translation possibilities (not compatible with WPML, .poedit, or anything else)
3) Whenever they release an update it creates more bugs than it fixes
4) The security for the event registration is inexistant
5) If you sell multi tickets, you can't have questions only for specific tickets. So for example, if you sell tickets for a golf tournament, a breakfast and a dinner, you need to ask what they would like for dinner for the 3 tickets!!
6) It is ridiculously priced!
7) You need to contact customer service after purchasing the 200$ license before you can download it.
It's been a nightmare ever since I started using this plugin. Stay away, use woocommerce, another event plugin or have something developped but don't pay 1$ for this. You will only lose your time.
This plugin is absolutely terrible. It has caused me so much grief with major privacy, security, registration, uploading of classes problems.
I would not recommend this at all for a business with many events.
Every single thing about this plugin, the pro version, the support & the company who makes it is one of the worst experience I've had with any plugin for wordpress.
It was hugely disappointing to spend the time to install EE, add events and then realize that it allows people to "register" without completing payment. I think it goes without saying that anyone would expect a "most comprehensive" event management plugin to integrate with payment. NOT to have the expectation that you would have to continually follow up with people to determine if they intentionally abandoned the registration process or are simply confused that they received a confirmation message (thus payment unnecessary).
This plugin is not worth the confusion and upset it can create with event attendees. Instead of touting "most comprehensive," this plugin would be better served by telling users that it is best used for free events.
Like others, I would consider upgrading if a clear answer could be provided. I logged in and searched the forum but if anyone asks about this required payment problem the answer is blocked (you must buy the premium plugin to see their answers). That's not encouraging.
I would love to see an event management plugin developed that fully integrates payment - like how eventbrite works.
Worthless in my opinion. You are not able to configure much of anything without paying for a full version. Save your time and look elsewhere.
The database installation expects mySQL, which means it won't install when the site uses PostgreSQL.
Uploaded the plugin, logged onto wordpress site, activate plugin, web site hung.
Almost immediately got an email from the free host site complaining about the following slow SQL: "MySQL Query: select * from information_schema.tables where table_name = \\\'wp_events_attendee_cost\\\' limit 1"
Deleted everything from the site. Re uploaded everything from scratch (WordPress & etc.). Tried to activate the plugin again - browser hung - more irate emails from host, etc, etc, etc.
Interface is way too complicated and confusing for any normal person (i.e. a client). And there is zero support (not even basic support) without paying an annual fee.
On the surface, event espresso looks amazing. It seems to have everything, and to be incredibly useful.
Let's say you're selling tickets to a conference. What's the most important thing for selling tickets? Well, to ensure that only people who have bought a ticket are registered for the conference.
Event Espresso doesn't let you do that.
For some bizarre reason, Event Espresso lets people rsvp for an event without paying for it. That has absolutely no value to anyone who requires payment for attendance. In fact, it has negative value, because the black hole of time wasted on communicating with attendees that, no, they don't actually have access to the event - BECAUSE THEY HAVEN'T PAID, BECAUSE YOUR TICKETING SYSTEM DIDN'T MAKE THEM PAY! - compounds the amount of time you have to waste figuring out who is going, who isn't going, and who still has to pay.
Foolishly overlooking this detail, and needing a good ticketing system for a project, I paid for Event Espresso's pro edition. Then I tried to address this - and other - problems. I went through a whole gauntlet of programmers whose job is, I guess, to customize the plugin for users. None of them, however, could fix the core problem with the plugin itself - that the plugin allows people who have NOT paid to think they have access to the event.
A giant waste of money and time.
