EasyRecipe makes it easy to enter, format and print recipes, as well as automagically doing the geeky stuff needed for Google's Recipe View.
No problems so far.
I tried WP Ultimate it has some great features but for my needs it is not complete. $75.00
I have Bigoven. It has some outstanding features but still not for me .
What I was looking for was a way for registered members to enter a recipe in a uniform format.
Easy Recipe will allow guest recipe entry if that's what you want but its easy to make it for registered users.
One or two features I would like but not a show stopper.
My site is
This is the second recipe plugin that I have used for my website and is much better than the first one I tried. It has worked well from the initial download and has been easy to set up and enter recipes. I am so pleased that I updated to Easy Recipe Plus.
I was concerned when reading a couple of the 1-Star ratings that were left, but I was willing to give the PRO version a chance after trying the demo. I've only had it for 24 hours, but everything seems to be working and nothing on my site is broken.
I took off a star for a couple of reasons.
1.The "import" of recipes doesn't exist - not for the plugin user. You are only able to export your own recipes to their website (They call it import, referring to their end.) I think this is more than a bit deceiving to the buyer.
2.The only other thing is the inserting of pictures. A bit of a pain in the ass and that might be my not finding an easier way to get a "featured" photo loaded. I have to insert an image into the recipe, so that it is available to pick as a featured image, then I have to go back and delete the image from inside the recipe. If I don't do that it seems I have to provide a url for the image.
Overall though, it really is a good plugin. I tried almost all of them before deciding on Easy Recipe. Others I tried had major issues. This one didn't give me any problems.
What I'd like to see in future updates:
Instructions provided on the templates for those who submit recipes. Many aren't familiar with how to proceed.
An optional area to provide a link somewhere on the completed recipe form that lets visitors know they can post their own recipes. The link could lead to the submission area ("detail" page).
When I downloaded this originally it didn't work & it took several weeks to get help - BUT when I did get a response back, they were super helpful & now I love it!! Im so glad i kept it. Really user friendly & looks super clean. I just needed to un-install it & re-install it. Thanks!
Good choice of recipe styles--or create your own. Would be nice if you could turn off guest posting.
There are two items that I wish to see in this plugin:
1) A recipe multiplier. Many recipe followers cannot make much adjustment to a recipe. So they either make a recipe with ingredients for 6 and one person eat it for days OR don't cook that dish at all.
2) Add an "unattended cooking time" to the times of a recipe. Some dishes take minutes to put together and an extended time to cook. A dish may baking unattended for an hour or requiring constant stirring for that same hour.
Add #1 and I'll change to 5 stars. Both will get 6!
