I had to redo mine because for some reason the wp-config file wasn't created for either of the two sites that I transferred. As a workaround I created a new install of installed WordPress, renamed wp-config and then ran the installer on the new database. I copied wp-config back and the sites loaded perfectly.
To be fair the plugin works as it should.
BUT when I tried a few times to move sites to a faster servers with more ram, it died.
The irony is that Duplicator needs memory and a faster server to work. So I was stuck on a shared host and did the ftp and find and replace domain name thing which is not beyond most folks to try...and always works.
I was using different ways to deploy my projects, but #Duplicator make it so so easier to deploy website. But i have a problem with permalinks, links works with localhost.
this is the best.
Doesnt work 100% of the time (sometimes there are server issues and it times out), but when it works, it's the quickest and easiest way to duplicate a site. Has saved me countless hours!
Super plugin to migrate your website but you have to knowledge how to use this
Absolute love this plugin. Makes it's sooo easy to move a site from a development server to the live domain.
The only disadvantage is that it doesn't have an automated scheduling system for backups, so they always have to be done manually. Since we build sites for clients, and clients rarely do those things themselves, it's always dangerous that there won't be a current backup on file. Been waiting for this feature for a couple years now and still no luck, so, sadly, I might have to look into using a different plugin soon for post-production sites. :(
Other than that though this plugin is aboslutely wonderful. Been using it for over 3 years now and never struggled or had issues with it.
Thanks, thanks, thanks!! Saved a lot of time. Great job.
However, I miss support for two major plugins:
- WPML (pages/posts was empty on duplicated site. Had to deactive/uninstall WPML before duplicating site).
- WooCommerce; the custom tables that WooCommerce creates was not moved. Had to manually move theese to new site.
Excellent plugin. Ideal for backup as well as moving or copying sites.
It deserved 5 stars if it wasn't for some small problems with big files (timeouts). When this is fixed, it will be the first plugin I'll install after wordpress!
