If you are a Realtor or Broker looking to increase your exposure online, dsIDXpress is a great tool to add to your existing or new SEO campaign.
It is not, however, a miracle pill for your site. If you buy dsIDXpress and expect it to magically increase rankings and traffic to your site you will be disappointed.
But if you use it in addition to a well planned SEO campaign you will reap the many benefits it has to offer.
Using its many widgets, IDX Pages tool, and adding property listings to your real estate blog posts via shortcode, you'll definitely see a noticeable increase in the number of pages indexed in Google and other search engines which can lead to increased traffic and ultimately leads.
But remember: to get something out of it you need to put the work into it first.
I have been a web developer for over a decade now and some of my main clients are real estate agents. I've gone through several companies claiming they provide the best solution for IDX search in WordPress. Diverse Solutions and the IDXpress plugin thus far has been the best to use, easiest to integrate, and simple to customize. Since i found them back in 2011, I've kept them as my exclusive IDX service provider when recommending search to my realtor clients.
There are a few disclaimers that I have to disclose. The installation is very easy but you will definitely need help (a programmer) if you want to make adjustments to the original theme design. It does get a little tricky. Also, this is an IDX search plugin that can be integrated into a WordPress site, not Zillow! I was reading a few comments below and it's ridiculous to see how many people misunderstand the use of this plugin. This is a web service owned by Zillow. You are not integrating Zillow into your website. Zillow is a multimillion dollar company and employs several developers to maintain the site while paying them a hefty salary. You are downloading a $30/m plugin to integrate into a WordPress website. It's a huge difference!
That being said, I highly recommend using the plugin (especially if you're a developer). Once you understand how it works, it will be easy to package up and reuse it for other sites.
Wow, I cannot believe what folks have written here. I have been making a living as a php developer and SEO since 2009, started my own company in late 2011. I have tried developing with every single idx vendor out there idxbroker, ihomefinder, Etc. you name it and I've tried it. For $100 set up fee and then $30/month you can use dsIDXpress on your wp site and they have a great map interface iframe product you can use on top of it for an additional $100/month. If that wasn't enough included in the $30 fee with your plugin is their mobile web application which you can position on a cname mobile.mysite.com. This is a powerful idx system at a rock bottom price, it is the best idx out there which is why Zillow bought them! Yes it doesn't work on https, is that an important SEO factor, no it is not! Is it a perfect product, no it is not, but they are working very hard to continue to make it the best product out there which I do strongly believe it is. All of the "problems" I have read in these other reviews with the exception of the https issue are simply because that person did not know html/php and should have hired someone that did. If you want to see how a wp site can and should work using dsIDXpress please have a look at these sites on my profile linkedin.com/in/matthewbrubin watch and learn my friends, LOL. Quit being so darn cheap and hire a profession php developer, stick to selling real estate (if an agent) or doing graphic design (if a web designer) and leave developing sophisticated wp sites to the pros.
Almost no updates since bought by Zillow. Very outdated. Support bad. Only good usable with $1000k annual fee for non SEO add on + $360 for this plugin.
Bad, bad, bad
Killed an entire day over paid pro idx plugin and themes. Two themes later discover the darn plugin only works with short codes! Support for this plugin is terrible. You sure can't pickup the phone and call anyone that's for sure. Proper expectations is your going to have to build your theme around the plugin and plugin design features are "technically speaking" null... Good luck getting a long list of short codes for advanced search...
Sad when you by a theme from Theme Forest "WP Residence - Real Estate WordPress Theme" that says it's compatible with dsIDXpress and it is not. Like buying a car and finding out the engine does not run.
Though I was broken until digging around to find after the fact it does not work! Hired a freelancer as I am getting to old for the frustration... I am sure this will cost a few $$$
I have handled clients sites for several years using this IDX system, and am currently shopping for a new one. The main gripe is the search widgets can't be easily styled or laid out differently. Additionally, on several large updates, this plugin conflicted with others. Rather than learning how to play nicely, Diverse Solutions just claims that other plugins or themes should change their ways.
Good feature set, but I have encountered a serious error that prevents the slideshow photos from displaying: "Juicebox Error: Config XML file not found." If I downgrade to a much earlier version of the plugin, the problem goes away. Stinks because I can't take advantage of the newer features. Unfortunately, I can't give this plugin more than 1 star because of this bug.
The plugin works well, but it is very hard to customize, and technical support is spotty--emails go days without an answer, the phone is often simply not answered, and messages are not responded to. The big negative is that it will not work on an HTTPS site.
After the latest plugin update, the forms no longer display properly and will require entirely new css to fix.
Overall this looks like it will work. But after a month or two we are learning that their support is sub par. They don't return emails or phone calls to paying customers, and the WP support thread is often ignored.
We have problems with the plugin outputting errors in the code causing a site to not run well, and they don't support HTTPS / SSL. Google rewards sites with higher SEO rank for secure sites. This plugin can't run under the HTTPS secure URLs and will fail your users.
