No problems

Using and loving, thanks :)

Completely INsecure (after all not true. It IS secure!)
By , for WP 4.4.1

It stores the file that needs to be protected in the standard folder: wp-content/uploads/download-manager-files.

If someone buys the product, he has the filename. The path plus filename will give 100% direct access to the file, no matter if you're a member or not.

Is it possible to add a file OUTSIDE of the webroot?

Bad news
By , for WP 4.4.1

The latest update totally killed the plugin. I cannot active because of the error:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /home/content/.../wp-content/plugins/download-manager/download-manager.php on line 11

Upadted Review - Working Like A Charm
By , for WP 4.4.1

After I posted my last review, the plug-in author Shaon immediately responded to my post and guided me through the proper usage. Turns out I was the one using it incorrectly. After Shaon's guidance I was able to rectify the problem and it is working like a charm. Thank you so much !

Here is what I had written initially.
The last update of the plug-in on 08 Jan totally killed it. What used to be a fantastic plug-in has been reduced to average with the last update. As a free version user one cannot be too choosy I guess, but the latest update totally messed up how the files appear on the page ( and no, it is not a theme related issue. have tested it on two different sites using different themes), and the functionality of hiding download count was removed. Sad. Will need to look for an alternative now.
