Best Blog Commenting Plugin on the market!

Should be the default comment system
By , for WP 4.0

I don't think there's ever a reason to use the stock comment system, it's a spam nightmare and not the most friendly.

Simply install this and you are set. Users can carry over logins from other blogs, thus bypassing the need to configure any settings to comment. It's also super fast and easy to configure, should you have the need.

Possible fixes for the v2.77 "database update" issue
By , for WP 4.0

When I updated the plugin, I was asked to update the database, and boom! Disquss stopped working. I got it to work by going to my plugin list and clicked "Settings" in Disqus Comment System. For some odd reason, it was disabled, so I just enabled it again, and now it seems to work.

Great plugin, non-existent support
By , for WP 4.0

Plugin is terrific; great way to outsource your spam problems to someone else. I've yet to have spam pop up in Disqus, just a couple of legit comments that needed approval.

However, support is non-existent, and this was especially noticeable with the latest update (2.77) which disabled Disqus after its "database update" routine was executed. I see lots of people in the forums wondering what happened, had to dig into a user self-support post to find the answer. Great that users support each other, not great that Disqus themselves are nowhere to be seen.

The plugin is also missing a changelog. This is very important, it tells people what has changed before they update! It can also be used to tell people what they need to be aware of *after* updating, something clearly missing from the v2.77 update.

I love this service, and the plugin. I just wish that Disqus did too.

Easy to use + peace of mind

DISQUS couldn't be any easier to incorporate into your site. I've just re-started my blog, but from my own experience, I feel DISQUS makes users feel comfortable commenting. As a content admin, I also feel better knowing that spam is less likely to end up in front of my visitors. It's also great to have authenticated users without incorporating direct registration on my site.

Just wonderful !

Very great plugin THANK YOU

Silence instead of support
By , for WP 3.9.1

My disqus comments has been hit by a virus posting comments that reappear after being deleted. I've re-installed from back-ups but the same problem still exists.

My site was up-to-date and security measures in place so I don't know how this malware could have been introduced or how to clear it. My support requests have been ignored, maybe they monitor reviews?

poison

One star because I cant give a zero star.

nice, but not good if you're serious about your website
By , for WP 3.9.1

1. social login icons have disappeared from the newest version...Why does this matter? If people see those icons they are 20 times more likely to post a comment...It's easy, simple, clean, and more trustworthy from your users point of view.

2. social login is now a FARCE...you still have to register for a Disqus account...disgusting...A big impediment to users commenting.

3. if you change your comment plugin later, your comments are GONE...that's a whole lot of faith.

4. last, and probably worst, it added 30 http requests and seriously slows down your website...this is one of the cornerstones of good seo/adwords/etc.; a fast loading website...And this plugin kills it...

They could clean all of these things up easily. If they do, I'll give it another try, because it does look nice.

Loads slooooooooooow

I went back to WordPress comments because I got tired of almost always having to wait for Disqus to load. I notice this on other blogs that use Disqus. It is no fun looking at the "D" with the spinny thing in it when the native comment system loads fast and works great.

I like that Disqus improves connectivity between blog sites, but am not willing to pay the speed penalty to get it.
