A super-awesome downloads manager and statistics tracker for WordPress.
Works really well, plenty of options; great job!
Overall it's hard to believe this functionality is not more widely available. It's important to track and monitor downloads and I've used this plugin behind a membership plugin (WLM) that was "missing" this important functionality.
I've run into a few little problems when deactivating and reactivating the plugin with wiping out some of my settings. But, 4.9 stars wasn't an option.
I'd buy this plugin if there were an upgrade option!
It does all what it says.
However, some of your clever subscribers may share direct links to downloadable files and those links will work.
You will have to put some extra layer for protection from hotlinking.
Doesn't get in the way. Just gives you everything you need from a lightweight downloads manager.
I've tried many Download plugins, some were ineffective or hard to use (had to look at a tutorial). Others didnt even work the way I expected.
This one, has a very good and simple graphic interface that makes the upload something fast and so simple.
Just passworded the file and copied the short code to a Page post, and when I tried to download it required the password just as expected. The download URL is managed by the script so no direct access.
Excellent! Thanks for the plugin, I had to register to set this comment but I think the plugin deserves it.
I have tried many Download plugins but this one makes offering downloads in WP very easy. From all the ones I tested, I prefer using Delightful Downloads. For me the perfect solution and definitely a 5 Star rating worth.
At first the log function did not work under 4.2. After I did a little research, I found that the corresponding table wp_ddownload_statistics was not created. Since I'm using All in one WP Security and changed the table prefix from wp_ to something else, before I installed the plugin, this could have been the problem (not completely shure).
So the solution was quite easy. Looking into the plugin file class-dedo-statistics.php at line 389 the SQL Statement can be found to create the table manually by using phpMyAdmin. That was it and the logs work fine.
Here's the SQL for those who have the same problem:
CREATE TABLE test_ddownload_statistics ( ID bigint(20) unsigned NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT, status varchar(10) NOT NULL DEFAULT 'success', date datetime NOT NULL, post_id bigint(20) unsigned NOT NULL, user_id bigint(20) unsigned NOT NULL DEFAULT '0', user_ip varbinary(16) NOT NULL, user_agent varchar(255) NOT NULL, PRIMARY KEY (ID))
best by far of all the download manager and download shortcode plugins of the many i tried.
thanks so much for your excellent work A5hleyRich !!
Thanks so much for a well designed and professionally programmed plug-in. Tried others, but this is by far the best. The WordPress community is fortunate to have contributors such as yourself.
Would gladly give this plugin a 6 if I could.
The best download manger plugin I've found. Does everything it should without unnecessary bloat and all in a well designed and completely free package! Allows you to provide easy access to files on your site with simple short codes and best of all you can update a file without breaking your links! Just a great free plugin that does what it should and doesn't spam you with endless ads or shameless solicitations for a premium version. Thank you so much for this quality plugin.
This does exactly what it should do, not too much, not too little, the perfect goldilocks download plugin - easy for adding files and easy to insert download links with panache into posts and pages.
