What else can I say? loved it!

niche topics? look - a true gem for curators
By , for WP 3.8.1

If your main activity is curation of a niche area or maybe research, this plugin will save you valuable time and effort.

Let's say you keep an eye on a particular site or feed that's mostly banal or filler - BUT every so often they have a post or guest post that is loaded with highly relevant links or other goodies.

Install Dashboard Feed Widget with the feed for that site - and just scan the latest entries when you're passing through the WP dashboard.

You almost certainly have other tools to monitor feeds - but they may be of needle-in-haystack variety, or overkill.
This plugin can bring focus to JUST the topic you're working on this week, or today; when you're done, change the feed in the Settings.

I use it in conjunction with ClipCache (another very powerful 'Curator's secret tool') and store each batch of 10 links in a ClipCache folder. CC has a 'capture as HTML' option, so you only have to click on the link in CC and zing - you're on the required site, days, months or years later.

The only other features I'd like in DFW would be:
1. Multiple feeds - maybe in a dropdown
2. Some way to reduce the DFW panel size/font size/line spacing - it appears that WP3.8.1 has changed appearance defaults so the DFW panel now seems to take up more space than previously.
(To truncate the panel size a little already, I changed the date settings in the DFW .php file so that only 'Feb 5' appears after the feed titles instead of the default (long) date format.)
3. Option to open a feed from the list in a new tab - would save one more right click in FireFox.

Support has been prompt and very clear - the developer could justifiably ask $10 or $20 for this, so useful it is in the specialised curation context. Try it - I'll bet you keep it.

In summary, one of those specialised, precision tools that can make the info gathering / curation process a pleasure.
Highly recommended.

[No connection with any WP developer including this one.]

Love it

This feed widget is very important to my sites. Within the dashboard my customers can see what is going on with feed information at a glance.
