WP Customer Area is a modular all-in-one solution to manage private content with WordPress.
I found this plugin last year, researching a solution for a private area. My customer wanted a simple solution for sending private documents to his customers, having at the same time, the possibility to notify by email that new content was added to his account. After last update of core and addons, the website is working 100% fine. My customer appreciate especially the managed groups addon, because that simplify a lot his work. I agree this plugin allows for an endless array of possibilities. Addons price are quite reasonable and support from developer very fast. 100% recommended.
Great plugin that is easy to set up and very feature rich. You can completely transform WordPress into a custom CRM tool, even overriding and creating custom permissions by role or user.
The setup is quite basic out of the box, but with some imagination and some of the premium add-ons, your site is limited only by your imagination (and your coding skills) with the hundreds of supplied hooks. You can count on the developer's quick responses to steer you in the right direction too. I recommend using their 2012 based theme and applying your own HTML skin to get the best experience.
My project would be dead in the water without this plugin.
The dropdown menu not work with bootstrap based themes.
I use Strappress.
Rudest support, buggy plugin, no "premium support" on purchased product, default installation has NO security at all (God help anyone not familiar with .htaccess files etc.).
Just bad all 'round.
If I had not committed so much time to begging for features, fixing bugs myself, and promising my client that we'd deliver "real soon now", and if there was any working alternative, I would have run, fast, months ago.
AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE.
I'm a novice bordering on intermediate. I tried this out and had difficulty following and setting up. Once I did, I realized it was just too much. I only wanted a page for clients to see privately. This is more of a full website for a client. After deactivating the plugin, THEN deleting it, I still had to weed out the pages and files I had created testing it out. It also did something to my theme so I am going to go figure that out. I have read this plugin has good support, and I didn't contact the author so it's not fair of me to say it's a bad choice. However for me, it's absolutely not easy or helpful.
Super plugin.
Ok, plugin does work quite well as far as I can see after playing around with it for a day. Unfortunately there is one major flaw with it that makes it almost impossible to use for anyone who is not comfortable with coding: if you enable the plugin's default CSS, it will mess up virtually ANY theme because it overwrites basic selectors like body, html, table etc. as well as classes like .container which are used by many themes. Developers say they tested it on Twenty Twelve and it works fine, sorry not good enough, a decent plugin should try its best not to cause theme conflicts. It's a bit lazy to simply import the normalize.css stylesheet and expect it to work - well it doesn't, it messes up the majority of themes.
Their reply is that you can disable the plugin's default styles, but if you do that the menus and other elements look awful, so you have to spend a lot of time creating your own styles, or do like me: go into the plugin's stylesheet and delete all unwanted classes, but if you do that you won't be able to update the plugin in future.
If they can sort out the conflict issue, the plugin will be worth at least 4 stars, right now I'm afarid it's a 3 from me.
A nice plugin, but I could not make it work with my use case. I would like to create a list of clients, and every time when I upload a file as admin, I can choose to send a notificatio with a download link to the client and he can just click on the link to download without logging in.
I have tried the free version and could not get it work. Is it possible to set it up as I want, and what Addons do I need?
has user limit
messed with it for a while. zero compatibility with your current theme. not able to interface with mobile or theme options. does not work well with other plugins mainly the private pages are all glitchy. So the entire reason for this plugin is to make an area to have someone login and be able to go somewhere that nobody else can. Cant make the pages from dashboard. Have to know too much actual coding. Too many errors to fix all at once. Zero tutorial videos available for setup. Just pass must be something better.
