Create your own widgetized areas and choose on which pages they show up - "Easy to use. Even with complex themes. Made my work much easier."
The plugin comes with a lot of praise but not much information on how to use it, or warnings about incompatibility with other plugins. Result, I installed it, and just doing that wiped existing settings and stopped other plugins working. All previous customisations of the menu system, which was extensive, were lost.
This would not have mattered if Custom Sidebars worked, but for me it did not. I created sidebars in accordance with the scanty advice given, followed the instructions for setting each page or post to pick up the new side bar. It didn't work, I had blank sidebars, or the old default ones. Support? Well I can't afford $49 a month, especially for something that had already messed me about. Maybe it was me, or my set up, or some bug that made it fight with other plugins, but whatever it was it cost me a lot of wasted time and effort. No thanks. I have found a plugin from another developer which is working without problems.
I wanted to create sidebars and specify their layout position on the page. This plugin only replaces existing sidebars which were located at the bottom of the page. I could not specify the layout positions (right or left).
This might work OK for others. I am using a child theme of Snowblind,
This plugin works fine, but WPMU is obnoxious with their ads. They place ads all over the admin screens that have to me manually hidden through code. Their paid service will charge you by the month unless you explicitly cancel.
That said the plugin works fine, so I hope they pursue better business practices in the future.
Useless, doesn't work. Total waste of time.
This plugin does not work. It looks nice.
But does not work.
Did everything as told in the instruction video.
Did more to try to get it to work.
Tested it with different themes.
Even the themes :
All themes I run were the latest versions.
This was a wonderful plugin until about two months ago, when it began breaking for no reason. I used it to create custom sidebars for a dozen pages , and they consistently worked across multiple upgrades of both WP and the plugin itself. Then, about 2 months ago the sidebars started to disappear for no reason at all. I would rebuild them, and then a different one would suddenly disappear. Today my primary sidebar is gone--not just on the front end, but on the back end, as well. I thought it was a fluke, but checking the forum it appears it is happening a lot and the developers have not given any suggestions for a fix. My advice -- check daily to make sure your sidebars are in place. Or better yet, switch to something that is more stable and/or has developer support.
First, without warning the plugin overwrote my other default sidebars and eradicated my other sidebars (contact, footer, etc). Then it placed a sidebar manager over the widgets page in a position that disallowed my ability to see or "add" certain widgets. Then it slowed down my browser so that it took ten times longer than usual to load ANY page within WP. I lost several hours creating sidebars that ultimately didn't work and prevented the other sidebars from working.
I realize this may be a bug or version problem, but this is the version available on the "search plugins" page of WP and so I installed it. What a mess. no thanks.
When I click on "where" plugin gets stuck in loading limbo. I have disabled all other plugins, no change. Author never responded to support question.
