works great but appears to be a resource hog
By , for WP 4.2.2

p3 plugin profiler shows this to add over 2 seconds to my load time. Since i'm on a shared server this is just not great.

Update:

Seems you have quite a few errors in your coding that are known issues that have not been fixed.

uninstalled.

Blog Sidebar Disappears
By , for WP 4.1.1

This works ok for the most part, but my blog sidebar disappears on occasion.
The Blog sidebar is always there when I am logged in however.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Does support comment here?

Thanks.

Guys, excellent work with the plugin.

Just a question though, it's not integrated with woocommerce yet right? It's only limited to pages and posts category and not product category? Or maybe I missed something?

Did not work for me
By , for WP 4.1

The plugin comes with a lot of praise but not much information on how to use it, or warnings about incompatibility with other plugins. Result, I installed it, and just doing that wiped existing settings and stopped other plugins working. All previous customisations of the menu system, which was extensive, were lost.

This would not have mattered if Custom Sidebars worked, but for me it did not. I created sidebars in accordance with the scanty advice given, followed the instructions for setting each page or post to pick up the new side bar. It didn't work, I had blank sidebars, or the old default ones. Support? Well I can't afford $49 a month, especially for something that had already messed me about. Maybe it was me, or my set up, or some bug that made it fight with other plugins, but whatever it was it cost me a lot of wasted time and effort. No thanks. I have found a plugin from another developer which is working without problems.

Just works!

I'm working on a pretty complicated theme, where client wants to have a highly customizable home page. I implemented it as a sidebar with the element are widgets. However, some of the widgets requires its own sidebar. With this plugin I'm able to allow user to define home page widgets and the sidebar attached to it on the fly, yet the only functions I've to use is CustomSidebars::get_custom_sidebars().

Excellent, Intuitive & Fast
By , for WP 4.1

Intuitive - I like it that there's no new settings page for this. It just adds on to the Widgets area. It's very easy to use and you don't need to read any documentation.

Fast - I'm including Custom Sidebars as a recommendation to my theme. Speed is important to me. This plugin doesn't add any noticeable loading time, memory usage nor queries.

I also want to give advise to the other reviewers out there giving this a bad rating. The plugin works great with no problems. If it doesn't work with your setup, then perhaps the theme you are using isn't built following proper standards.
