Useful to tie down a custom-post-template to a post.

good work

Works great as described

Exactly what it's supposed to do. Things to keep in mind:
1) Follow the description to create proper templates
2) Read the other notes to properly link up your custom post types or the templates won't show up! (They should really move this into the description or some where more obvious)

How do you use this plugin with a child theme?

How do you use this plugin with a child theme? It works fine if you use the main theme, but using a child theme I encounter errors.

A+ and works with ACF

This plugin saved me a lot of headache.

And with a little extra scripting it works with ACF for targeting templates!

Now if only we could get it to work with subdirectories. THAT would make it perfect in every way.

Sometimes I really don't get why things aren't in the core. How is this not much more important then 'post formats' or 'the customizer' ???

Thank you so much.

I don't know about beginners, but this plugin works EXCELLENT!

It took a small bit to get used to, but it DOES WORK, and very well!

Sure, it would be nice, if there were a tutorial. A tutorial is the only thing this is lacking. But once you figure it out, it does exactly what you need!

In short, you need to create a new file called single-newname.php where "newname" is the name of the template. Then you can use that template as desired. I used another plugin called Advanced Custom Fields to work in conjunction with this plugin to create custom fields to use on the custom post templates. Then I program the custom fields into the custom post template (single-newname.php).

So yes, it may not be easy for a WordPress newbie. But if you are a WordPress newbie and don't know how to program, then you should be hiring a developer to do this anyways. Stop hoping for a magical no-coding-needed way to customize your WordPress! You think developers work for free??

Anyhow AWESOME plugin and very easy to use! Thank you!
