I bet you are wondering why I have that title and 4 stars?
Basically, I was thinking about buying a $200 contest plugin and realized I couldn't change a bunch of the stuff on it, especially without code, so I did a second look for free pluging to see what was out there.
This one fit the bill for what I wanted exactly: email sign up and integration with aweber and a referral link that people can share.. YAY!
But the cons:
1.) The share image doesn't work. Everyone I have seen share it on facebook it's been blank in the image and doesn't have the chose text, so that kind of sucks.
2.) You can't change the colors of the enter button or the counter for entries. I *think* you should be able to do this with CSS (I tried), but I'm not an expert at CSS so I wasn't able to do so.
It would also be a HUGE bonus if this included a way to give people entries for things like liking you on facebook, but even without the plugin is great.
Hope this helps both those of you thinking about it and the developers!
For the most part, Contest Hopper is very easy to use, and the user dashboard for setup couldn't be easier.
However, it's not without problems.
My biggest problem is with the field form CSS. In the backend, the fields look fine. On the live page, the name and e-mail fields as well as the "Join" button are crushed beyond legibility.
The rules pop up doesn't block out H1-H6 tags or other shortcodes on the screen. The transparency issue is definitely messy on the page.
In the setup pages, I had to cut and paste the url for my contest images into each box, because the app wasn't able to successfully populate the file from my media library.
In the future, i'd love more customization options as well. Being able to collect a location or phone number are key in giveaways.
That said, it's everything I'm looking for in a contest app. Good job, guys. Can't wait to see 1.0!
