I bet you are wondering why I have that title and 4 stars?
Basically, I was thinking about buying a $200 contest plugin and realized I couldn't change a bunch of the stuff on it, especially without code, so I did a second look for free pluging to see what was out there.
This one fit the bill for what I wanted exactly: email sign up and integration with aweber and a referral link that people can share.. YAY!
But the cons:
1.) The share image doesn't work. Everyone I have seen share it on facebook it's been blank in the image and doesn't have the chose text, so that kind of sucks.
2.) You can't change the colors of the enter button or the counter for entries. I *think* you should be able to do this with CSS (I tried), but I'm not an expert at CSS so I wasn't able to do so.
It would also be a HUGE bonus if this included a way to give people entries for things like liking you on facebook, but even without the plugin is great.
Hope this helps both those of you thinking about it and the developers!
Exactly what i need. Make contests on the blog and intergrate social media.
Simply don't works. I tried during HOURS, but it was impossible to get working this plugin. Tried with 3.9 and 4 WP versions... nothing. Don't waste your time, search for another plugin.
Looks good but can't get it to work on my WP version 3.2.1 which is supposed to be supported.
When trying to add a contest, a page error occurs (Error is - too many redirects)
If you need a contest, this is the one!
Very custmizable and great support
This is the best plugin in the world :)
For the most part, Contest Hopper is very easy to use, and the user dashboard for setup couldn't be easier.
However, it's not without problems.
My biggest problem is with the field form CSS. In the backend, the fields look fine. On the live page, the name and e-mail fields as well as the "Join" button are crushed beyond legibility.
The rules pop up doesn't block out H1-H6 tags or other shortcodes on the screen. The transparency issue is definitely messy on the page.
In the setup pages, I had to cut and paste the url for my contest images into each box, because the app wasn't able to successfully populate the file from my media library.
In the future, i'd love more customization options as well. Being able to collect a location or phone number are key in giveaways.
That said, it's everything I'm looking for in a contest app. Good job, guys. Can't wait to see 1.0!
Been using Contesthopper for my clients for a while now, great support and better yet .. traffic spikes when running a contest. Also, the Mailchimp and Aweber integration is just magical. Thanks guys!
Thanks for a great plugin.
Easy to use, customise and a great way to promote your site socially.
The only issue I have is not being able to set the page in the url shortner for the competition. If you have a competition page and you want to use the widget then you need to make sure you are the first entry and you make the entry from the competition page.
If you use the widget without doing this then whoever enters the competition first will set the destination page as being the one that they were on rather than the competition page itself.
But this is just a small issue on generally a really good plugin.
Aunque le faltan algunas cosas es funcional, cumple su función y es prometedor. ¡Buen trabajo!.
Although it lacks some things is functional, it does the job and is promising. Good job.

I would add a way for users using the references could know how many entries have.
