I used to use another 'tool' that cost $80 or so a year, and was nowhere near as effective as CleanTalk. Now, for 1/4 of the price, I have effective protection for 3 websites.
I've had one false positive in the month or so of use, and it was easy to go into my dashboard and release that legitimate comment to be allowed to post on my site.
For price/performance and sheer bang for buck, it is amazing!
I have a small art website. I don't get much traffic but it is steadily increasing. So are the spam messages. I tried this for the free trial & then let it lapse. Big mistake. I use Akismet but it doesn't stop the contact form spam. This does. I just bought a year's worth of service for 3 websites because it's obvious my contact form spam is only going to get worse.
Installing & running the plugin is a breeze. Once it's installed, just click the link provided for an access key. That's it. :) You get to try it before you buy (100% of the features) so there's no risk. It's literally all reward & is the best money I've spent on a plugin.
I was excited to get a lot of registrations soon after I made my first blog post. :)
It didn't take me long to realise that nearly every one was a spam registration, however - I was flooded with them. :(
I selected CleanTalk based on the number of installs and 5 star reviews.
'Installed CleanTalk - a breeze - and the spam registrations stopped immediately. :)
A few weeks later, my hosting company changed security settings and a legitimate registration failed. :(
I asked for support from CleanTalk, having no idea why the registration didn't go through.
CleanTalk logged in to my site immediately and diagnosed the problem. :)
They then created an interim fix :) - in under a day :) - while they added permanent functionality to the plug-in to not only deal with the security settings used by my hosting company, through future plugin-updates :), but to also deal with security changes like this one, made by any other hosting company.
Within a few days I got an email back, with instructions to uninstall the current version (with the interim fix) and install the latest update, with the new permanent functionality. It just worked. :)
And the licensing cost is negligible. :)
I have no other connection with CleanTalk apart from what I've recounted above - check my blog to confirm [Link redacted]
I'm using this plugin since a year now and I never had one spam since then. I would totally recommand.
I run a website for a computer user group and, in the past, adding captcha codes and other things to prevent bots and spam has just led to less real people using it. CleanTalk has made things super simple for me to keep the bots and spammers from flooding the websites I run without compromising the use with actual real users. It is well worth the yearly fee, which at the time aI wrote this was $8.
This is one of my highly recommended apps for WordPress users now.
Awesome little app that does exactly what it says. Go ahead, give it a try.
It really does do what it says and get rid of spam. I was a bit wary to start with but gave the plugin a go and the spam completely stopped. So have just renewed my subscription for another year.
CleanTalk has so far been the only and the best anti spam plugin that has actually stopped all my incoming spam. I was getting upward of 200 spam posts a day and unwanted users registrations. After trying a few spam block options I came across CleanTalk and my spam disappeared! Highly recommended.
I just like it.
This plugin saves me a lot of time because 99% of the comments were correctly marked as spams and that saved me a lot of time.
I recommend this plugin, I appreciate the low cost and high added value.
Recommended for any Small Business. *****
