We have just completed building out a new site at allsaintsepping.org with Church Theme's Maranatha and the Church Theme Content plugin. This was the most complex site I had ever built and Steven was fantastic where I would email him one day (from Sydney) and he would always reply over night - even when it was dubious if it was something concerning his stuff. The site now looks fantastic and I think gives us a platform for growth for the next few years. Well done Steven and thank you!
I've used this plugin in a bunch of websites...works great! That is, it works great for sites that it is designed for. The theme you use must be compatible with this plugin, which is unfortunately a shorter list that I would like to see.
I have built-out multiple church sites using this plug-in and was able to get them up and running in no time. It is easy to learn/use and if you have any issues the documentation is thorough and great. You can also email the developer, Steven, and he will respond to you with a solution asap.
One note is to be careful of poor quality themes, like the Jesus theme, that wrongfully built-in this plug-in's features into their theme. ONLY USE THEMES THAT USE THIS PLUG-IN AND NOT COPY ITS FUNCTIONALITY. I would recommend any of the churchthemes.com themes to avoid this issue and get high quality themes and support.
I love this plugin you can purchase it and a theme for it at [Link redacted].
If you do use it, you won't regret it. If you need help they have excellent support and even the raw code is very nicely commented if you want to change anything.
This plugin is really a great idea. By providing the framework for sermons, events, etc. that any theme can use, now you don't have to worry about finding yourself locked into one theme. The trend today is for premium themes to include functionality that is better left to plugins. That works fine until you change themes and have to start over.
I've used this with the Resurrect theme and with the new Marantha theme (which is awesome) and it has worked flawlessly. The development guide is thorough, and has enough information for theme developers to incorporate this into their work.
Great job! I hope this continues to catch on with more church theme developers.
This plugin is a really smart way for church theme creators to put the interests of churches first. This plugin stays minimal rather than bloating up. It provides only what you need to make Sermons portable from theme to theme and allows other themes/plugins to handle how those sermons are displayed. This allows for great variation in functionality while providing complete portability of sermons from theme-to-theme.
No theme will be used forever - and building sermon functionality (or ANY functionality that users will want to keep when they move) into a theme traps Churches who want to update their look and feel. This plugin does the opposite and sets them free to do what they need with their site with minimal frustration - creating a great group of themes that a user could easily migrate to.
With the plugin Post-Type and Meta variables built into a plugin, it makes it much simpler for churches to move to a new theme - and also speeds up the production of new Church Themes - which is good for everyone.
The documentation is also very good for this plugin and made it very easy to implement - although I did struggle with the built-in Event management. Regardless, there are many other great Event management plugins out there so it wasn't a requirement - as other plugins allow for portability as well.
This is another major advantage this plugin has: the choice to disable parts you don't need. I used the Sermon Functionality only and used other plugins to handle events. This flexibility is a big plus.
Steve has put a lot of work into building a helpful plugin that offers a tremendous framework --to borrow the term-- for launching a church website.
His custom post types just work, and because they are built the WordPress way they're extensible!
I'm working with his Exodus theme on my first project.
As I implement things I realize Steve has already built a template for it.
Already he has implemented features --as he's constantly developing his products-- that I'm wanting.
This can be used by a novice, but saves a developer a ton of time building custom post types and templates!
We just released a new theme based on this fantastic plugin
The plugin is brilliant in every way. Everything you could possibly want on your church site. Steve has seriously thought of it all. It was easy to use and develop for and the support was always right there if we needed it.
I just wanted to leave this review to thank you Steve, for bringing this to the public and for free as well, you really can't do better then this plugin.
I've been using this plugin the last 11 months while building my church theme shop. I've tried a lot of plugins since I started building WordPress websites during version 2.7 and believe me when I say this is as good as they come. It's easy to integrate, easy to customize and very well-written. Just browsing the source has taught me a lot.
Best of all, it really helps churches avoid the theme lock-in effect. I know that if I build themes that use this plugin, they can switch to a theme from [Link redacted], [Link redacted], [Link redacted] (my own shop), or most any church theme on ThemeForest and their content will port over seamlessly.
Well done Steven. We need more plugins like this.
Before this plug-in came around I used to hardcode all this functionality into my themes. Now I skip all that just activate the church content plug-in and I'm good to go with a whole bunch of functionality. The plugin works really well and the developer is super responsive. Top marks
