This plugin will check your posts, comments and other content for broken links and missing images, and notify you if any are found.
Great plugin, great support. Notifies me via e-mail on broken or redirected links on my blog.
I have thousands of links and don't like to surprise visitors with broken link. It's also easy to fix redirects which saves my visitors some time but also allows me to keep an eye or where the redirect leads my visitors. You might be in for a surprise there if the domain switched owners ;)
I wrote a Dutch post on Broken Link Checker, hope that will get you even more users!
Thanks for quick find broken pages
Easy to use. Nothing wrong with this plugin
All my sites depend on this product to check all the links daily. It can run in the background constantly OR it can work once a day. You will love it.
The best way to manage links!
Broken Links Checker is very useful if you have an older blog with a lot of links. It will find bad links and makes it easy to correct them, including comment links. If you link to a key old article that had gone off-line, it will even point to the same at archive.org. Very handy feature.
However, BLC will also often find links bad that were simply slow loading. So you have to rechack the links it suggests before removing them. Many will be fine.
Also, once installed, it will recheck your links at the set interval. Several sites warn that the plugin causes resource thrashing. If you have a heavy volume site, you don't want this one running in the background when under heavy load. One host said its a plugin they'll uninstall to keep the server responsive. Hostgator and WPMU recommend against using it.
I'd suggest you deactivate it after use and just use it periodically as required. Alternately, you can use a web links checking service but these are not as easy to update.
It's a very useful plugin when your site becomes old and you have to check all these dead links. But it can slow your site and it creates a hudge database table you have to clean after use. As it's not a "every day usage plugin", it's not really a problem.
It is the best plugin of its kind that I have found.
Thank you very much!
I don't recommend to use.
Works like a charm. Got an email about the broken link and was able to notify the site owner before she even knew.
