This plugin will check your posts, comments and other content for broken links and missing images, and notify you if any are found.
One major peeve for me is a website with stale links.
This plugin automates the process of testing and identifying those links saving your visitors grief and you the time required to track it all down.
An essential plugin.
Please look into the following:
When a broken link is re-scanned it should also check to see if that link still exists in the source document. When we changed a site URL recently there was still a whole lot of "broken" links which no longer existed in the source document.
Also, please add !important to the default text decoration as many themes are overriding the line-through.
This works very well, and infarct it sends me an email should it get any problems with my links.
Thank you for creating this plugin. Save lots of admin time!
It took 5 minutes to clean up my dead links with this plugin. Awesome plugin.
This is the only reason that I am not using [ link redacted, please do not post links in reviews ] You see, WPE says that BLC is a resource hog and yes it is. If you use the plugin P3 to check the performance of your plugins, you will probably be surprised to see that this plugin seems to take the most resources of any of them. When you consider what it does, it makes sense, but being so useful and such a drag on performance is tough.
The other option of course is to get rid of it. I don't want to run desktop apps. I want to be fully in the cloud. How weird is it that we think we need desktop apps to do cloud applications? There are third-party websites that will check links for you and email you a report, so that is likely what I will do but they cost a monthly fee. I had hope that another plugin might work, but it costs $18 and when I tried to use it gave me an error. The developer says he is working to fix that, but who knows if that will work.
If this plugin could just be less of a resource hog that would be the best of all possible worlds. Since WPE doesn't allow this plugin, I have to find a solution to this problem before I switch to them. Or perhaps this will be the reason I never switch.
I think that you don't realize how helpful this plugin is until you try it.
My site(s), some of them, are very link heavy. So keeping up with dead and broken links was something I didn't do - until a user lets me know. Bad form! I have over 50 pages in one site - now I don't have to search and test.
Info on the admin home screen is ideal.
I especially like that the broken links are crossed out and readable - not left as is, mysteriously marked or hidden. Some links I intentionally leave that way.
Love this plugin for many reasons. Thanks!!
Works really well, and I do like that it emails you right when it detects a broken link. I personally hate when I'm reading blog posts and half of the references are gone. The plug-in also makes it super easy to add in the latest Archive.org copy of the site, which many times is all you need.
Thank you! This saves me time!
This plugin saved me tons of hours, it works like a charm!
