Thanks for making my web site maintenance easier ...
Our site kept getting hacked, even after extensive cleanup. Our hosting company finally got involved and said that a malicious IP was "accessing a file in the broken link finder plugin."
I'm not saying this plugin was the security hole. But in our case it looks like it was more useful to the hackers than to us.
Upon installation (via FTP) returned
The plugin does not have a valid header
and all my existing plugins, gave messages such as:
The plugin apocalypse-meow/index.php has been deactivated due to an error: Plugin file does not exist.
Having wasted many hours (on a previous non-WP site) manually updating links, I almost cried when I found this plugin. It works really, really well, too, immediately notifying you of broken internal or external links and, better yet, letting you fix those links directly from the plugin menu. It takes what had always been a time-consuming and frustrating chore and makes it a quick, simple job.
If you have a site with any number of either internal or external links, this plugin is a must.
This plugin is fairly simple to use, and does just what it advertises. It notifies me as soon as a link (whether internal or external) is broken, and lets me quickly fix the link before my visitors find it. It is one of my most actively used plugins, and makes me feel that I'm caring well for the cleanliness of my site!
Good plugin, but now get error 500 on all my site, I must rename the folder to go to my blog's admin page :-(
I'm finishing up the launch of a re-design, with literally thousands of inline and navigation links to confirm. Between that and, looking forward, having many authors -- who won't necessarily catch their own link errors -- Broken Link Checker is pretty indispensable.
I love this plugin. It should be part of the core ASAP! So much easier than updating links manually... a real time saver. Many thanks!
This plugin was great until it stopped working and brought down my sites (error 500). I needed to rename the plugins directory to even visit the wp-admin page. I updated to the latest and then things were back up and running for a day. Then it was down again. I can afford to leave this plugin on. Looking for replacement...
