Love it

All my sites depend on this product to check all the links daily. It can run in the background constantly OR it can work once a day. You will love it.

Careful with Use
By , for WP 3.9.2

Broken Links Checker is very useful if you have an older blog with a lot of links. It will find bad links and makes it easy to correct them, including comment links. If you link to a key old article that had gone off-line, it will even point to the same at archive.org. Very handy feature.

However, BLC will also often find links bad that were simply slow loading. So you have to rechack the links it suggests before removing them. Many will be fine.

Also, once installed, it will recheck your links at the set interval. Several sites warn that the plugin causes resource thrashing. If you have a heavy volume site, you don't want this one running in the background when under heavy load. One host said its a plugin they'll uninstall to keep the server responsive. Hostgator and WPMU recommend against using it.

I'd suggest you deactivate it after use and just use it periodically as required. Alternately, you can use a web links checking service but these are not as easy to update.

Very useful but don't hesitate to clean after usage

It's a very useful plugin when your site becomes old and you have to check all these dead links. But it can slow your site and it creates a hudge database table you have to clean after use. As it's not a "every day usage plugin", it's not really a problem.

It is the best plugin of its kind that I have found.
Thank you very much!

Thank you

Works like a charm. Got an email about the broken link and was able to notify the site owner before she even knew.

This plugin broke my website
By , for WP 3.9.1

After an SEO review I discovered I have hundreds of broken links. I thought this plugin would save me time. First thing after installing the plugin, I had a database error. I called my trusty web host who thankfully has telephone support, and they said that mysteriously the site had been pointed from the subdirectory where WP lives to the main directory. We fixed that. Subsequently the formatting of the page went crazy, and then I was unable to log into the site at all.

I assume that there was some sort of incompatibility problem with other plugins I have running, but use this at your own risk. It cost me several hours of productivity.

Excellent tool

Does exactly what is says it does. A bit of a server resource hog, we use it (turn it on/off) once a month to check overall site links, both internal and external.

Also a simple tool for finding and updating internal site links after you move a site from one server to a new server.

Gotta Have

This plug is pretty close to a gotta have, once your site gets sufficiently large. Link rot is a constant fight and Broken Link Checker is your weapon to combat it. Thanks.
