We've interrupted a few attempts to hack clients' sites, and have installed iThemes Security to help protect us going forward. According to the reports, the plugin has since blocked numerous hosts trying to brute force or otherwise gain admin access. So, there's very little doubt in my mind that the plugin does what it says and more.
The reason I don't give five stars: I'm first and formemost a marketer, but having set up dozens of WP sites (inc. coding my own themes and fiddling with better devs' code) since at least WP1.7, I consider myself fairly well-versed in WP ways. However, I find configuring iThemes Security unnecessarily confusing, which adds a sense of insecurity to the security.
Some UI work and Plain English documentation, especially with regards to default and suggested settings, would probably go a long way.
don't like to be given the hard sell and the nudges to upgrade and review etc. I'd do that on my own if I felt like it.
Over all it's a great tool and fair for what is provided for free.
Very good plugin, recommend it!
I always recommending this plugin and ebook. Really awesome!
The unique bad issue is the warnings that don't dissmiss even if we click in dismiss.
best plugin ever
Overall, I've been very pleased with iThemes Security since it was Better WP Security. Right now, however, I'm getting locked out of sites and other strange things happening which I hope they will fix before I need to go elsewhere.
WP security is on the top of my list and so is this plugin. I'd highly recommended this one to you.
I use WP 4.0 - and it's ok too
Works like a charm - trial and error depending on the used theme.
So should you use it? Yes.
Very very good for what is offered for free. A small niggle at the moment that there is a compatibility issue with the wordpress android app,but apart from that I'm very impressed.
