The easiest, most effective way to secure WordPress in seconds.
I really don't care how well a Web-based product works when it constantly places an annoying reminder smack dab on the Dashboard Welcome page for everyone, including my clients, to see.
Remove, or at least make an option available, to prevent this from happening in the future, and I might reinstall your product.
Can you do something about it?
I've been using BWPS on all my sites and believed it the best security plugin. However, one thing was really annoying: once in a while I had a trouble to access some of my sites as admin, although I whitelisted my IP, did not use time block, and used all possible paths: domain/wp-admin, domain/special_login_slug, domain/special_register_slug, changed .htaccess. Finally recently 4 of my sites stopped to show admin area completely and only allowed to access it when the plugin is renamed/removed via ftp. As soon as I return the plugin, the site immediately gets blocked and again I have no admin access.
Looks like I have no other choice than to remove it from all the sites and replace with some other security plugin on the market. Unless there is a solution to this problem, which I much hope to find with your help, as I wish to keep this plugin since really got used to it very much :).
Do NOT use this plugin. It destroyed my WordPress server. I had to completely reinstall the last backup image because it screwed up everything.
Just had to spend 7 hours to unlock my admin account, which had been locked out for no reason at all.
Better off just using cloudflare or cloudflare pro and avoid "free" unstable plugins such as this.
While a great plugin, I rate it 1 star to raise visibility to a huge error that can harm many websites hosted on dedicated servers or VPSs.
Currently, the backup functionality does not work correctly. Even when I have it set to "email backups to me only", and when I have it set to save 0 backups, the plugin continues to save backups to your server.
My website's disk space was 100% full, and it took me forever to discover that iThemes was the culprit. After deleting dozens and dozens of backups, my disk space went back down to 33% full.
In order to solve the issue without uninstalling the plugin, I was forced to choose "email and backup", and then set the backup retention to 1.
When this issue is resolved, I will be happy to give it a 5-star rank.
This caused me no end of problems, you have to change your core files to make it work right. NO plugin should have to do that. Now I have to figure out how to get core files changed back as it is interfering with other plugins from working. Wordfence is no better, let a hacker in and kicked me out. Best bet for security is one that is not as invasive as the this one and Wordfence.
iThemes Security plugin sent me more than 100k notification emails in the past few days with a Site Lockout Notification. After trying to alter the plugin settings to have it stop doing that, I ended up uninstalling it all together and deleting the files. But even removing the plugin was not enough, I still receive the same amount of emails from the plugin regarding the site lockout notification. It has a serious bug and this adds slowness to the website. The support has been completely unresponsive for almost a week now.
There are other other options out there, I'm using now Wordfence Security and it is more straightforward and faster than this. And the plugin support replied to me almost immediately...
It was the best but now it's one of the WORST plugin I've ever used... doesn't work, breaks other plugins and is completely FILLED WITH NOTIFICATIONS all the time.
Don't waiste your time with this plugin (nor with iThemes)
No way, for such a plugin, I definitely want to understand what I'm setting up. Not giving me that feature is a no GO! Too bad
Site completely went down due to this plugin. Was working fine until the change to ithemes. Now completely unusable. yuck.
