Embeds a Google Map into your site and lets you add map markers with custom icons and information windows.
Tried a lot of plugins the last days,
this one works out of the box without any patching or
hack to my existing plugins and theme.
Thanks for the great work!
I just installed this plugin and it works as advertised. Nice job - thanks!
Very good plugin, lightweight, and works perfectly. I particularly appreciate the function of clustering, and grouping markers by categories (a kind of mashup)
It does not deserve to be called "Basic", it really has a lot of possibilities!
...I finally figured out how to force this plugin to work as I imagined. :) Only thing that I need to find is shortcode documentation because I want to hide controlls on my map and plugin settings doesn't seems to work correctly.
NOTE: If somebody got an error with "map options are not set" just put options to shordcode on your page. Like this:
[bgmp-map placemark="name-of-your-placemark" width="100%" height="400" zoom="14" ]
You can change it as you wish and it finaly works really well. :)
If you get an error with do_shortcode() then you must install plugin called Functionality and use it to put one additional function to your wordpress installation. Adding it with "hardcode" method right to your theme is not recomended because if you do update in the future function will be deleted.
If you want to see my map just come here and please ignore site language. I'm from Slovakia. :)
Thanks to author for very useful free plugin.
With all honours, _smarty.
thank you very much
Just made another theme with underscores and used this plugin to display a map in a footer widget. Followed the instructions, dropped a couple of lines in the functions file and hey presto, it works!!
Sooooo much easier than messing around for hours and hours trying to do it manually with Google API and all that bla bla bla. No matter what they say, doing maps is NEVER easy ... unless you use this plugin.
Great work Ian (I think that's your name) and thanks for sharing :-)
This a five-star plugin with one, small hiccup. It is NOT written with a responsive script. Once this is changed, it'll be top-notch. Something I would definitely pay for (or donate to the author)!
I really like this plugin. Most Google Maps plugins are way over the top and complicated, this one is a clear example of how a plugin should function. Only thing is that this plugin isn't mobile friendly. With css-overrides this is solvable but it would be nicer that the plugin in its default respects multiple devices.
This plug-in was amazingly easy to install and edit. All accomplished via the visual tab and no need to do coding via the text tab. Setting locations was easy as well, just need a postcode, no Lat. and Long. required.
We're using multiple maps with many, many markers and it looks great. It's a deceptively simple but very powerful plugin. We're not techies and were able to get it up and running and then change what content was displayed in the lists, used the stacking order to sort the lists, changed the marker flag and changed the styling.
Ian Dunn's documentation is clear and gave us all the hints and steps we needed to get it working.
