I've tried many backup plugins, but this one is head and shoulders above the rest. There are too many great features to mention them all, but here are a few that have been especially useful to me:
My only real complaint about this plugin is that the default number of backups to leave on the server (in the To: Folder tab of each job) is quite high. If you neglect to change it, you could get into space-usage trouble with your webhost.
The features are everything I could want, but I have to subtract a star for a recent update which broke the plugin for many customers, as it was weeks before a fix was released. It broke in such a way that users wouldn't necessarily have been aware that their backup jobs weren't running.
I understand that maintaining and supporting a plugin is a lot of work, but when a plugin author takes on a vital function like backing up, there's an implicit commitment to the swiftest possible fixes, or at the very minimum, better notifications so that people know their backups aren't happening.
However, since this is an otherwise great plugin, I'll come back in a year and remove this part of my review and add the 5th star, if there have been no further issues (or if any that do occur are addressed promptly).
I love this plugin, had so few issues with this plugin vs other plugins that I have used for backups. I like the option to save it into different cloud services.
-1 star, has some issues with sugarsync
using this plugin with dropbox on many website, very good and useful
why i get this message after backup done ?
WARNING: Job has done with warnings in 1815 seconds. Please resolve them for correct execution.
how to resolve this ?
Provides a comprehensive set of config options & can send backup to several popular cloud storage services.
Needed to restore my entire site last night from a backup & by site was up & running again in no time.
This is a great (and free!) backup plugin. I've been using it for backup to Dropbox (going to try Amazon S3 soon), and it has been working like a charm.
My only comment is that it seems there is a lot of clicking required to get things setup. A little review of the UI could make this friendlier.
Great free plugins and perfect for back-ups but there was a problem with both s3 and dropbox giving me errors when setting backups up. After hours I came across this article http://wordpress.org/support/topic/error-s3-service-api-access-denied-when-using-php-53-or-54?replies=4 and figured out the solution for s3 and another similar article for dropbox. Now everything works, but wish I didn't have to go through that!
We use BackWPup Pro and love it. It's not the first one we've tried, but it is the best. Give the free version a whirl and you'll be convinced too: http://wordpress.org/plugins/backwpup/
I think backWPup is the best backup plugin ever, having a great number of free features.
