This is just some feedback after a tough afternoon. I know your product was free- but I'd seen a demo (I suppose it was an older version) with your restore feature. I just assumed that your latest product would come with a restore. Perhaps - for the current version you should put a note to that effect on the wordpress download/plug in notes area
Anyhow- the directions here and elsewhere (and some of your comments on the WP support site) make it seem rather easy to restore simply using the PHP tools on the host control panel.
Ok, I had a full backup- so may I suggest you differentiate your terms - database only means the .SQL file (I now know that)
Also Your software creates in in a TAR Wrapped in a GZ- yet the PHP restore looks for a zip by default.
For Windows users, that means finding "7 zip", uncompressing everything in GZ, everything in Tar, extracting decompressing the sql file, and re compressing in a ZIP file.
THEN the PHP software will accept the .sql.zip
At first, I was trying to send the entire backup- (I'm new- and I thought "database" was the entire backup .gz file you'd made) Perhaps you could call this "SQL data only"
So- please work on adding back in that tools/ restore feature. I like the reliability of your product, and the ease in which it sent the data to my drop box.
In the end, I did get my database and additional files back up and running (better than before). I thank you for that!
But, in the meantime I thought perhaps, for clarity, you could add a few steps (see what I'd written above) in your "how to" web pages.
I really liked this plugin due to its sync with Dropbox. It worked fine for a while but then started behaving badly.
Unfortunately, despite two support requests logged, chasing back and being patient for about 3 months, I got absolutely no response whatsoever.
I therefore had to delete this plugin and found another one (Updraft Plus) which does the same and is actually much easier to set up. However, it is slower than BackWPUp.
In the end I had though to go away from BackWPUp as I really needed a functioning backup plugin.
stopped working when the dropbox authentication changed. even deleting jobs, building from scratch and reauthorizing hasn't helped. Tried both auth methods (app access and full access) to no avail.
Yes, BackWPup works however the many upgrades with the:
"You have activated or updated BackWPup. Please check this page."
message is getting really tiresome. Please turn this off. It is becoming like the boy who called wolf.
Hi. (I'm a non-native speaker of English. Please forgive my English.)
I upgraded BackWPup to 3.0.2 from 2.1.17, and "No MySQLi extension found" errors occurred while backing up WP database.
I'm using web hosting service without MySQLi extension installed.
I asked the hosting provider to install MySQLi, but they replied that for now, they're not planning it.
If possible, I'd like to keep using BackWPup.
Version 3.02 doesn't work. I've tried numerous times to run a backup and it just won't work.
It tells me that the backup has started but I get no indication that anything is happening. I never get an update in the logs and of course I never get the backup file.
Why would you change something that was working perfectly? Don't get it.
