I have used this on my blog as well as a friends and in both cases this backup plug-in became unreliable when the total backup size became larger than 200 MB or so.
I rate this a three-star plug-in because it works great on smaller sites, but for sites with lots of media files you need to find another solution.
Tried plugin on 2 sites. One seems to work OK but the other only backs up the Database and not the files?
it's worse than updraft
When I first installed the plugin it worked fairly well. The only real problem was the settings screen. On the settings screen if you get a simple page that doesn't look like anything special and you adjust the settings they won't "take". Reload the page because you should get a dialog. If you get a dialog and change the settings it works. I had the problem on IE, Chrome, and Firefox. Not really a big problem once you know.
The bigger issue was I had my WordPress installation in a subfolder off the root, for example root/mywpinstall. When I changed the site URL so users could get to the website without including the subfolder I couldn't get the backup to work - even after deactivating, uninstalling, and reinstalling.
I emailed the support but didn't hear anything back, although it's only been 3 days. Nevertheless I switched to UpdraftPlus and haven't had any issues.
If it wasn't for the subfolder issue I would have continued using the plugin - it was simple and did everything I needed it to do.
I am taking back my previous vote after I found a major bug: timestamps values are not quoted, thus making restore impossible.
I believe this bug should not exist when mysqldump is used, so for most UNIX-hosted sites, you may never experience it.
However in several occasions the plugin settings somehow got out of hand, causing it to create a large amount of backups, which on shared hosting platforms led in one occasion to my entire site getting shut down as the backups had grown to 800GB overnight!
Now I'm using a premium plugin: Snapshot by WPMUDEV
Works well on one of my WordPress sites
But on the other, website, on a slower webhost, backup does not complete - I click "Run Now" to create the first backup after installation, but the spinning circle goes back to a tick after about 49 seconds, but no backup is created. I have tried different settings but cannot get it to complete.
I suspect it is timing out as my 123-reg hosting is very sluggish.
Currently a 3 star, but if the monthly backup isn't running daily anymore (WP 3.5 + backupwordpress 2.1.3) then it might be worth 4 or even 5 stars.
500k uploads speak for themselves.
