Have quietly relied on Backups Scheduler for years. It has saved the day several times. Work your way through the options, all is there. Never a conflict with theme or other plugin. On rare occasions when I do not receive my morning email assurance that the backup completed, I find it happened to coincide with some other processes maxing out memory on the shared server causing it to hang. Go to dashboard, clear, and initiate a manual backup. (Do not close that backup page or tab until completed.) When I was a new to WP, this plugin developer was very responsive and helpful. Has since incorporated answers to those questions in his documentation. Mature plugin.
This is great. Now if I have a problem on one site I can restore just that one site. I backs up the upload site folder and does a db backup of just that site number. I set it to email me the backup zip and I then autoforward that to dropbox (to resolve the issues where a failure happened in emailing to dropbox that I didn't see)
Running over 20 wordpress sites this is my go to backup plugin. Set the backups to save via ftp to folder outside public_html and can let it do its thing.
Only issue might be if some users have directory browsing active and save their backups to an accessible folder, the backup zips can be easily downloaded and contain wp-config so anyone could basically hijack your entire server and database ;) But not a problem if you're careful.
I was looking for a free WordPress automatic backup solution and this plugin works great. I will be using this plugin for all of my WordPress websites. I highly recommended it.
I used to run BackUpWordPress but had to change as it was creating a huge mess with Multisites and found this one that does the job much better.
There are still some basic options missing IMO and posted a support ticket about that but it still deserves 5 stars.
SedLex deserves high praise for coding great plugins and responding to requests
A fantastic plugin, and exceptionally supported.
SedLex did a great job on the development, and when I encountered a problem was extremely helpful in getting it worked out.
I didn't understand exactly how the plugin worked and could not make it work for a day or two, but author bent over backwards to assist me. As soon as I realized I needed to override my existing database with the unzipped backup (obvious, isn't it?) it worked as promised. This plugin saved me from a month's hard work! Thank you SedLex.
You never appreciate a backup system until you need it. This plugin was a life saver when I had recently updated some other plug-ins that made my whole site crash! I had some problems getting the zip files to work at first, but the developer spent hours with me to get the problem solved, which I so appreciated! Backup Scheduler is first class all the way.
I was looking for a simple way to have all my WordPress folder backed up in a zip file that I can download via FTP. And guess what ? Backup Sheduler does the job perfectly :)
Of course, as the name says, you can schedule that backup, and choose to keep only backups from the last week in exemple.
