I have two websites. I wanted to export the posts, and ONLY the posts, from one to another. This worked using the default WordPress tools, but attachments didn't get migrated. (This is a fault of wordpress!)
Anyway, this plugin seems to be the bandaid to fix the problem. Issue is, if you set it to export posts only, you get an error:
There were no attachment files found in the import file.
The alternative is to export everything, but that's just silly. I don't WANT to migrate anything else and it would in fact cause problems.
So I found another plugin, "WP Attachment Export", of which this plugin is based on. And hurray, it actually let me import attachments!
It didn't attach them to the original posts. And there is no way to tell what images were imported versus what images were already there. The post date wasn't changed, so I can't just sort by date.
It doesn't attach media to the posts. I assume it is meant to, but it probably references the ID of the post. BUT THE ID CHANGES WHEN YOU IMPORT POSTS!
(Why doesn't the WordPress team just fix the issue? We shouldn't need this plugin anyway.)
(import_file_error: Remote file is incorrect size)
I don't know what to say other than it didn't work... didn't upload any of my attachments. Failed over and over again.
Sadly this did not work for us. Error message was "there were no attachment files found in the import file". Only wish that were true. We have links to about two dozen images in the WXR file, and it doesn't seem to be able to pick out any of them.
