Appointment Booking Calendar allows you to accept online bookings from a set of available time-slots in a calendar.
Unless I am missing something, the connection to the PayPal site does not allow a user to bypass creating a PayPal account and simply pay via credit/debit card using PayPal.
Why is this the case? Any other website I've used or created where I directly linked to PayPal allows users this option to pay via credit card without having to create a PayPal account to do so.
I work for a chiropractor that wanted to launch online appointments without having a huge back end that took multiple steps just to make a simple appointment. We didn't need billing (which this can do), and we didn't need to store our patients information or provide logins. We just wanted a super easy to use plug in that made the appointments and put them on our calendar. This is perfect! The price of the plug in is great, and we did request some customizations. The cost for the customizations was very fair. I had a lot of questions and needed some help here and there making things just right, and their customer support was always prompt and very helpful. This is been perfect for us, and we are very excited to be implementing our new appointment system.
I got it all set up and I went to test it and the program redirected me to paypal. Also, uses a lot of resources so it slowed my site to a crawl. Interface is not user friendly.
I am talking about premium version as free version is quite limited and it forces you to use Paypal so let's consider this as almost 100% commercial plugin.
The plugin is full of potential for the price, specially comparing prices for other pro calendar versions out there. More than enough set of configurations but without being overwhelming or extremely difficult to use.
In particular I liked the way you can set up your calendar spots in an individual fashion, so you can end with trully custom calendars. It is possible to set up each appointment time slot for any given time and date, with its specific duration and its specific max capacity... Because yes: (message for other pro calendar developers out there) real people and business timetables are messy, difficult and sometimes even weird (yes some client of mine has appointment slots of 5 minutues, and then of 3 minutes, and then of 20 minutes, and the next day is different, and so on...).
Very quick and professional support (answer and update in less than 24 hours), and the code is clean and understandable so I could tweak it easily to add user access control support for specific roles and user groups.
(Although not very fair with the tricky commercial strategy regarding free version. I think is adviced anyway in plugin description)
I bought the premium plug-in because I needed optional services and multi-site compatibility, and I have not been dissappointed. I feel this is very reasonably priced, especially when compared to the alternatives out there, like Mindbody.com (£60.00 per month) and Eventbrite (which is not a WPress plug-in but charges a % for every sale).
After 6 months I paid Codepeople for some additional support to sort out a technical glitch I was experiencing and also get a change to my Paypal requirements. My queries were dealt with quickly, patiently and thoroughly by Karen/the support team, and I felt they went over and above what they needed to do for me.
As a small business owner/sole trader, this plug-in is essential for me to run my business efficently and I feel really good to know that the support is there if and when I need it. I'm really happy with the plug-in and feel it is better than anything else I have found. Thanks CodePeople.
I don't care what you say in the other reviews "it was the original purpose of the plugin"...bull. I bought one of your plugins before for one of my clients, and in that one, we had to pay to GET the paypal feature on it. And now? we dont need the paypal feature for one of your products, yet you are going to make us pay to not have it.
This plugin was pretty much perfect, and honestly you would have had me sold on having to pay to access custom forms and using it as a widget. I was about 5 minutes away from clicking the "buy" button your premium version, until I looked closer and realized you're actually making people pay to remove something that makes the form useless if they don't want their users to have to pay to book.
Making people pay for extra features = acceptable.
Making people pay to remove "features" that render the form useless unless otherwise paid for = low and incredibly cheap and honestly should not be allowed on the wordpress free plugins area.
Please provide an option for Sandbox Paypal & auto redirection option to "Thank you" page.
The plugin installed no problem and I found customizing the form very straight forward and easy. I was having problems with some CSS though. I contacted support and after a few emails back and forth got some code changed. I'm just learning CSS, maybe the instructions weren't as obvious to me as they would have been to someone with more knowledge of this but Karen from the Support Team was awesome - always a quick reply and so helpful. Thank you so much for your help! I love this plugin!!
More freemium crap. It's hard coded to PayPal so if you don't use paypal, or don't want people to pay to schedule an appointment at all, you have to upgrade to pro. I've never seen a plugin force you to use paypal. It's usually the other way around. I tried another cal plugin and it works great. Try something else and don't support this crap.
1 no monthly subscription :-)
2 I wanted to make my own website, as a sole trader I didn't have the funds for most of the calendars. They were too complicated, I couldn't understand the terminology and they were too expensive. Also the more expensive calendars are not geared up for what I needed, which was to book groups or individuals in to do a one day oil painting workshop.
3 after reading about this one I realised that if I make the one off payment, then I would get help the help I needed. I did and someone worked with me, she was fab! She worked tirelessly with me to help me. Nothing was too much trouble. It is value for money.
I'm not sure if your allowed to show my "booking calendar" on my site but I'm sure they will delete this bit if it's not allowed. So that you can see it working.. [ link redacted, please do not post links in the reviews section ]
As a positive, building on what a lovely plugin it already is, I would love to see an up to date video clip on YouTube. There is one someone has put on, which helps but it is out of date. The videos really do help people and they would stop people like me wasting getting in touch for help.
Thank you for your help and support :-)
