Version of "Advanced post list" is 0.3b8 valid on 01/12/2015
I have first chose "Advanced post list" for the purpose of producing lists of posts, but :
When you edit the "presets", may be the panel is not clear but it is possible to work with theoretically, but the main problem is that the puglin is unable to generate its own syntax (code generator) for "preset default parameters".
It generate a "compile" error (invalid php syntax : array php parser)
- I could not use it at all
- I wrote a message on this forum without any answer for one week
- I wrote a message with screens hotcopy in the GIT repository site three weeks ago without answer
The error generates a display panel (popup), but there are errors inside and it is impossible to just copy (or print) the content of the syntax generated (array of parameters of the preset generated) to engage any verification. The syntax seems valid but why an error ?
If you delete the preset, you will get an error elsewhere : just because just the first error was seen before... but as I could not find any error, I have just fully cleaned the concerned preset.
Why a display of the syntax corresponding to the preset is not displayed anywhere ??? Any error should be clearly displayed (don't mix up the parameters array which is needed to be shown first if an error occurs - just underscore error zone - and the code which should be introduced to get the same display without using the preset shortcode : this should be an help for "manual" use with the basic shortcodes.
Why not generate the parameters array only for the current preset for testing... (the "save preset" is just side to side with "test display"...
Because the full parameters are not well generated, the test display is unactive...
When you have ended and got the preset OK, you try a valid one you get a crash on the php site execution...
The plugin is UNUSABLE with "preset" until this syntax problem will not be solved
What make me to react in such a way is the lack of answer. I have spend a lot of time to check everything before sending this post, which, itself, have been an enormous time gap.
Note : when the popup for "error" is displayed the top half of application window is unactivated "greyed" !!!
The plug-in works well enough. But has two major issues.
1) Very little user support
2) The plug-in does not seem to support mobile responsive design.
I had installed this plugin for a client over a year ago. Today he wanted me to add a post to the list displayed and for the life of me, I could not figure out how. No instruction, (how to install via WP Admin doesn't cut it), no screenshots and NO REPLIES to support posts here.
Other than that, it freaking works.
I have been on the hunt for a plugin like this for quite some time. It's easy to achieve advanced and intuitive display of content. The plugin interface is not as great as it could be but I still give this plugin 5/5 since I belive that will change in the future. This plugin has immensely cut down the time I spend on creating content rich pages. Big up Advanced Post List!
There are a lot of options and it kinda works, but it doesn't really.
Does this plugin enable you to display posts from last X days?
There is a plugin for last X days but unfortunately does not have a category filter (returns results from all categories).
Would be great to add this feature.
thank you in advance
A great replacement for the defunct Kalins Post List.
Whether you think of creating a related post, or a list of post that relates the current page query, APL is the best choice. However, that's not the only thing :)
With the freedom of building completely customized layout, organizing a list of posts (or custom post type) just becomes easier with this plugin.
Just stop doing the
while( have_posts() ): and start using Advanced Post List shortcodes.
Hi, This plugin is unique, as you may filter out Posts and Pages using kind of metadata filtering method. What I find especially valuable that it is possibility of building complex queries and relatively easy formatting of lists display form (I am not a programmer...).
Go on with this plugin, please and thank you for what youve done so far.
